Life & Work with Anicea Franklin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anicea Franklin.

Hi Anicea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a Queen by the name of Anicea Franklin. Currently twenty-five years old, I was born and raised on the west side of Chicago in the Austin community. Growing up, I was always active whether it was sports or dancing. Modeling did not come into the picture until 2014, my junior year of high school. That year I would be featured in two fashion shows back to back, and honestly I was hooked onto the runway ever since. By the time I was a freshman at Illinois State University in 2016, I realized I wanted to style and do print work such as commercials, editorial, and creative. The next two years I would solely focus on runway and print. I began doing my own self-portraits and became a lot more comfortable being in front of the camera. Before I knew it, in December of 2018 I realized I was not passionate about academics whatsoever. I made the decision to pursue my modeling career full-time.

Fast forward to today, my craft is my full-time career. I am not afraid to bring any concept to life. I am an all-around artist and I do not like to feel restricted. Modeling, dancing, and styling are joyful and fulfilling to my soul because it is a form of expression. I believe that we all have to find healthy ways to express our emotions and different personalities in order to continuously heal and grow.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Anything worth having means putting in some form of invested time and energy. I was also worried about the opinions of other before leaving a university, but this is my life to live not anyone else’s. Believing in yourself can be the hard part of this journey too sometimes. A lot of people and things are revealed to you. This means you have to reevaluate your circles and be honest about unhealthy habits and routines. Sometimes taking a chance on faith can be a bit nerve-wracking as well.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets me apart is my genuine, authentic, unapologetic aura. I am the same person in every room. Yes, I have to be more professional in some rooms than others but it’s how I carry myself. I specialize in creative directing, wardrobe styling, model coaching, modeling (runway and print), and personal development.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
