Today we’d like to introduce you to Carra Roots.
Hi Carra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Told my mom, I wish I knew the moment I first picked up the camera because I feel like I always had it in my hand. It was through photography that allowed me to work with so many people and learn the end and out of businesses because people wanted a creative on their team. When I was going to college, I had the hardest time picking between music, graphic design, or communications. Somehow through twists and turns landed in photography.
Those skills and other passions that I had didn’t go to waste though. I now have my own business where I do consulting, design, and photography.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Through this journey, I doubted myself a lot. That made me undercharge, compare myself, and be insecure in the things I actually did well. So you can say one of my biggest struggles was my self-confidence. Most of us on the entrepreneur journey hit this bump. We are looking for people to tell us something is good, then we say it could be better.
Self-confidence was something that I had to work on literally for myself. Not covering it up by being in the background and undercharging anymore, which were all just coping mechanisms. The good thing about it now is that when I begin feeling myself in that space again, I know more on how to work through it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Created For You Only is a content company. Most people think of content and think social media. Content is everywhere that you are visual though. I literally get to help people look good across all platforms.
A quote that I have made my own is, “I capture people with my camera and their ideas with my mind.” I specialize in processing, articulating, and executing the thoughts of others. More than making brands look good through the photography and design, I do work to help the visuals actually get seen.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Tenacity. Like through it all hanging on, holding fast. In times of doubt, holding on to hope. In times of scarcity, holding on to a penny. In times of celebrations, holding on to goals. And through it all, holding on to God. Agreeing with something births tenacity because it gives you a reason. I hope we all find ours.
