Life & Work with Cymone Jeans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cymone Jeans.

Hi Cymone, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Of course! My name is Cymone Jeans, I’m a mother of 3, celebrity stylist, and CEO of Cymone Jeans Beauty. I like to think that I was born into the beauty industry. My family noticed my gift as a young toddler. I would micro-braid every doll I owned. From my dolls to family members, friends, and classmates, I began to acquire skills, knowledge, and clientele. Once I graduated high school, I attended the University of Memphis to pursue a nursing career. That only lasted a year due to me disregarding class to accept hair appointments in my dorm room. During this time, I also became a freelance makeup artist. Since then, I’ve traveled with my gift, from Memphis to Houston, and currently, Atlanta. I now have a salon located in Downtown Lawrenceville, GA, where I specialize in protective styles and have worked with a few celebrities you may know.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t always smooth. I’ve run from my gift a couple of times. But I truly believe when God gives you a talent that you can literally live through and touch others, it’s almost shameful and foolish to neglect it, especially when you’ve developed passion and knowledge. At a time, due to relocation, I struggled with clientele. I also struggled in the beginning when I didn’t have the best budget for marketing or the proper space to service my clients, but consistency is key.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Honestly, it’s hard to say that I “specialize” in a specific style. Generally, I would say protective styles and natural hair. Braids, wigs installs, natural hair care, and extensions are my thing. And that’s what I’m most proud of, being diverse and serving high-quality styles. It also sets me apart from the rest. I strive for mastery in anything I do. It keeps me going.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If you’re reading this, thank you. No matter what your goal or profession is, I truly hope I can inspire you to keep going. No matter what, no matter where, no matter how.
