Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Angelo Weston.
Hi D’Angelo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is D’Angelo Weston and I am a fashion stylist and entrepreneur. I am from Birmingham, Alabama. I am a graduate of Alabama State University, class of 2019, & was a theatre arts major there. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. While attending Alabama State University, during my last year, I slowly started my fashion styling service.
I am owner & creator of Weston$tylez. WESTON$TYLEZ i
We provide online services, in-person services & are mostly styling clients in Birmingham, Alabama & Atlanta area.
Weston$tylez officially started in 2019. One day a friend came to me about being apart of her campaign team as the stylist. She told me that now is the time that I needed to bring my fashion dreams to reality and I did just that. She later went from a candidate for Miss Alabama State University to actually being selected as Miss Alabama State University 2019-2020. So her pictures that I styled her for was used around campus for promotional purposes and from that point Weston$tylez started. So, of course, I continued styling her as the official Miss Alabama State University 2019-2020. After graduating from ASU in 2019, I became an assistant to fashion designer Brit’tney Powell. Fast forwarding to earlier this year, I went on to style Birmingham Rising Female Rap Artist, Tia Raye, which is a 2x Nominee at the Alabama Music Awards.
Also, this year, I got the opportunity to be apart of costume/wardrobe for my 1st ever movie, “Nine”by Isabelle Studios. It’s a fantasy/drama, which will be releasing early 2023.
My overall goal with Weston$tylez is to create a world of Fashion and Beauty & help people gain the extra spice or confidence that they already have within.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, every day is a journey. Of course, there are times when encounters with clients isn’t as smooth as you hope it would be. Sometimes those experiences are lessons. I try to learn from each encounter I have with a client & improve. Sometimes your vision and the client’s vision may not be the same, but finding a way to introduce the client to a different style or a new look & still meet them somewhere in the middle can be challenging. So currently, I’m working on ways to get the clients to try new looks & still feel that confidence within.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a Theatre Arts Degree so I currently work as a House Manager in the Theatre Department at a University in Birmingham, Alabama. I am still working very hard to be a full-time stylist, maybe one day a big-time Celebrity Stylist. Being a stylist to the stars is a dream & I’m working very hard to get there. This year, with Weston$tylez, I am going Hard. I’m meeting new people & networking. Also, I am trying my best to get my name out there and let people know about Weston$tylez.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite apps are Facebook & Instagram because on both apps, I get to see what people like & what they don’t like. Also, I get inspirations from those apps. Most importantly, I definitely get to connect with clients from those apps & receive a few coins, lol.
To book with Weston$tylez you can definitely contact me through those apps or my website.
