Today we’d like to introduce you to Djuan Shaw.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started off young writing poetry and being the center of attention in elementary school, performing in front of the school and even freestyling during lunch. When I was younger, I knew I was destined for more than the average and other people seen it in me as well. Fast forward to high school. I moved to Georgia from Detroit I was always a little bit shy and cared a lot about what other people thought of me I wasn’t in my comfort zone. But when my cousin coby died I decided that I wasn’t gonna worry about that type of stuff anymore. I always loved music so I started writing songs and being on my ps and qs with school work. I had a rule that I wouldn’t drop anything until I made something that I was comfortable with other people hearing. I ended up attending morehouse college and unfortunately had to withdraw due to lack of funds. I reached a deep state of depression while living by myself in Tennessee, during that time I focused all my anger and raw emotion into my music until eventually, I was creating something that I wanted the world to hear. Ever since then Iv been my own competition, trying to surpass my last body of work. I started doing shows, reaching out and making connections with big names Such as Zaytoven, Enrgy Beats, Sauce Walka, Sada Baby, Rmc Mike, SSG Splurge and more. I continue to strive forward in hopes to master my craft, perform at festivals and share my energy to the world. Lxrd S will be a strong name in the music industry and I will continue to push forward until my vision comes to fruition.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some obstacles I had to overcome include self-confidence and lack of support. Both of them go hand and hand, when you have little confidence in yourself, you Rely on the support of others as an esteem boost. But with the path, I’ve taken you don’t gain real support until later on the path. So I had to create the faith in myself to the point with or without support that I will prevail and become victorious. You are your own worst enemy and when you’ve conquered yourself, you become essentially unstoppable.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am Lxrd S an upcoming hiphop artist, I write music and share it to those who resonate with my intense energy. I currently have songs with Sada Baby, Rmc Mike, Ssg Splurge and co-signs from Zaytoven, Sauce Walka, and more.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I feel like luck plays a role and luck amplifies one’s careers and goals. However for me, I feel like hard work and Devine timing is what’s making the forward push. As long as you consistently move forward all the pieces are going to come together, maybe not at the time you expect it, but hard work never goes unnoticed, it’ll all line up. Just have faith in your vision.
