Life & Work with Jonathan aka Jaymoe Monroe Da Rookie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan aka Jaymoe Monroe Da Rookie.

Hi Jonathan aka Jaymoe, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been making people laugh since my mother birthed me 🤣 and it’s always just been natural for me. I love turning people’s bad days into a better day no matter what and I became a comedian by accident. I never really thought I could be one but I’ve been told most of my life that I’m funny so one day, I just decided to put a show together at a hotel conference room and I only expected a few people to come but I ended up having over 50 plus come to my show and I’ve been sticking to it ever since then…

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say my road of being a comedian was smooth but I would be liar and I don’t wanna lie to you because I dealt with a great amount of depression and felt like my life wasn’t worth anything because my mom and dad passing away took a lot out me of me but God blessed me with a beautiful hard headed daughter that changed my life around and her praying mother who became my bestfriend/manager helped me to see comedy was my passion but I just had to get comfortable in my own skin and love myself fully

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work at Benton Nissan in Hoover as a detailer I clean cars what a job right 🤣 but at night I’m a comedian and I’m known for having bad ankles and problems with my daughter 🤣 as a single father. My comedy is relatable, family-based and it also contains my struggles of being a single man 😒. I’m most proud of how far I came from being a comedian and the amazing people who gravitate to me because of my stories. What sets me apart from others is my life stories and comfort level of how close let the viewers into my life…

What were you like growing up?
Real hungry I loveedddd to eat when I was younger so food was the greatest thing that could of happened to me back then🤣 my personality was laid back, chill and I was a hopeless romantic. I was interested in anime heavy, comedy, romance and church by force at first but I over time I fell in love church…
