Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Ross.
Hi Kiara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry. I first got my start in college. I started college as a theatre major, though I graduated with a degree in public relations. I went from acting in theatrical plays to interning for PR agencies, radio stations and network studios across the country. I’ve also been a volunteer for the Atlanta film festival at one point. I currently work as a production assistant at Tyler Perry Studios. I think what helped me get to this point is definitely a strong work ethic but honestly, an even stronger network. I really do have some amazing friends and have met some amazing people on this journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has NOT been easy. I have bumps in the road what seems like frequently. I think, at one point, the biggest struggle for me was consistently finding work. As most freelance/unassigned artists do have an issue with. However, I’m grateful! Everything is 20/20 in hindsight. I try my best to keep my head down, pace myself and do the work. Everything else will come.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Whew! I like to think of myself as a Jill of all trades, only because the list exceeds two skills, lol! I’m an actress, singer, model, freelance makeup artist, and production assistant. I love to perform, that’s my first passion. I’ve wanted to be a full-time performer since I was a child. Makeup has also been a passion since my teenage years. I’ve worked for M.A.C, Ulta and have done freelance work for photoshoots throughout Atlanta. I also have experience as both a Publicist and an event coordinator. I guess I’m trying to be the show and the business.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I don’t have it all figured out. I’ve been told by so many that I’m doing great and how proud they are and some even ask for advice. I want those around me to know I’m still climbing. I’m praying, manifesting and growing everyday.
