Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Santos.
Hi Kimberly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started singing at the age of seven growing up I’d sing with my dad all the time. In fact, if he hadn’t showed me how much he loved music too, I wouldn’t know where I’d be today. As I got older, my passion to become an artist grew profoundly. One of many celebrities that I looked up to as a kid made me realize how much I wanted to be a singer was Selena Gomez. Unknowingly I’d find myself singing or humming out tunes throughout the day. Along growing up and becoming the young adult that I am today I’ve met and made friends who also have the same strong passion to pursue their careers in the music industry. I believe music definitely made me the person I am today. I feel like I’m still developing as an independent artist but also as a person too. Without music, I would’ve never have fallen in love with singing and I never would’ve met the people closest to me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, being an independent artist has not been easy I’ve had my up and downs. There are definitely moments of struggle for sure but I use it as a way to motivate myself. Before going solo, I use to be part of a girl group and it was a little more easier because there was help coming from everywhere. Unfortunately, life happened and my mental health took a big toll on me not just in my personal life but it intervened with trying to get work done in the group. I made my departure from the group in late May of 2022. Since then I’ve taken the time to figure out what I want and how I needed to proceed with music. To this day I’m still very good friends with the members of the group and we keep in contact. We’re supporting each other’s careers and whenever the time comes for either of us to perform on stage, we’re each other’s biggest supporters.
Since deciding to go solo, I have been working very hard on my debut single “I’m Sayin’ Bye”. There is no official release date yet and although I can’t spoil the song, I can tell you what it’s about.
Like any other girl, we’re all looking for love from a person to build a connection with. This year I went through a big complicated relationship and so my Debut single is inspired by that event in my life. In a way, I’ve accepted things for the way it happened because I have a dope song that came out of it with plenty of motivation to write more songs.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Apart from singing, I do dance too! I am a founder of a K-pop Dance cover group called Solar Impulse Dance. There are about 20+ dancers of all ages! I haven’t been dancing for long but it’s a favorite hobby of mine that I got into back in 2016.
I am mostly known on Tiktok for posting relatable content. I grew quite the following in 2020 on my 17th birthday. I have gone viral a few times my most viewed video has about 15.2 Million views. I find it crazy the way social media works one minute you’re having a regular day and then the next you’re phone doesn’t stop blowing up and you’re getting notifications from everywhere.
I am most proud of myself for not giving up, even though I know I could’ve. There were moments I wanted to give up and felt like no longer pursuing music cause I was put in tough situations. I learned In life all you really need is to be surrounded by good friends and good people who are strong-willed. If my friends back in middle school never pushed me to sign up for the school talent show and sing in front of teachers and students I probably never would’ve known what it was like to be on a stage.
What sets me apart from other artists is how far I let my creativity go. I’m a big fan of taking risks and doing crazy things people would probably need to think twice about. I don’t let anyone hold me back from my creative thinking and when I have a vision that I like in my head, I make it happen.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Honestly, everyone who’s part of my life and no longer is played a big role. It helped me realize that what isn’t meant to be shouldn’t be forced and that’s for friendships and relationships. Every experience that I’ve gone through I’m thankful for even if they weren’t so good. I made and still do make the not so best choices but I learn from them. One thing I did learn is making mistakes are fine and it’s okay; no one’s perfect. As long as you’re willing to keep going everything’s going to be okay.
I’m thankful for the people closest to me for always rooting for me. They have all stuck close by me and I’m happy that they’re experiencing this journey with me.
My biggest thank you to all my supporters who are anticipating my debut single’s release soon; there is so much more to come and this isn’t just the beginning of my career but the beginning of a new era in my life. I’m excited to experience with everyone
