Today we’d like to introduce you to Kym Williams.
Hi Kym, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It was 2020 and I was in a miserable job. The pandemic hit and my husband and I became empty nesters as our youngest headed off to college and our sons moved out into their own places. I had a lot of free time and found someone on Tik Tok making earrings. I was hooked and went out and bought a few bars of clay. I launched my first collection in October so it’s been two years now. I left that miserable job in 2021 and haven’t looked back. There’s been a lot of growth and so much more to learn and do. I’m excited!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth entirely. There are ideas I have that I can’t execute just yet but it’s still thrilling to know there is more to do and learn. The roughest part of this business for me is probably having to show up on social media on the regular. That is a job in and of itself but for the most part, it’s worth doing. I’ve never been happier.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in earrings. That’s the bulk of my business but I recently expanded my products and added gold-plated rings. Next year I want to add home goods.
I think I’m most proud of my growth as an artist. I’m designing my own shapes and recently purchased a 3D printer to create my own cutters. I’m learning how to make silk screens and I’m creating files to have acrylic earrings made on a laser printer. It’s’ important to create your own tools in order to truly be unique so this is an exciting expansion.
