Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharde Richardson.
Hi Sharde, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It started in high school with a photography course and a very patient teacher. Back then, we learned to shoot on film and processed our images in a darkroom. The whole process–using a projector to expose the image onto paper and mixing chemicals to reveal them–was incredibly fascinating to me. These days I no longer shoot on film, but I still use all the technical aspects of creating an image in camera that I learned back then.
Fast forward to 2015, with those skills I learned in high school, I booked my first client and didn’t turn back. I’ve added to my initial toolkit over the years and have been able to create beautiful portraiture for some pretty amazing clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been really interesting to say the least! Like most small business owners, I’ve struggled with getting the word out. I could probably learn French faster than I could marketing and SEO. There are so many hats to wear and not enough hours in the day it seems. But I do think those challenges have strengthened my resolve to make my business the best it can be.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a luxury portrait photographer specializing in women and couples. I’m known for my stunning imagery and beautiful light. I pride myself on my attention to detail and my ability to fully immerse myself in the vision of each of my clients.
Taking a concierge approach to portraiture, I aim to give my clients a crafted portrait experience–I want them to feel like celebrities for a day! From designing light to coordinating every element of the photoshoot (hair, makeup, wardrobe, and massage), I strive to create an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of my clients in the most creative and elegant way possible.
