Life & Work with Urmi Hossain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Urmi Hossain.

Hi Urmi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
During the pandemic, I had time to reflect a little bit on what I wanted to do. I wanted to still make an impact within the limits of this virtual world. So I created my first blog called MyWays. On this website, I talk about “myways” of achieving things such as getting over public speaking fear, getting a promotion, handling finances and so forth. On my blog, I write financial literacy articles as well as provide tips related to studying strategies, finances, public speaking, books recommendation, and also write about my own adventures on how I get over my own challenges, hoping that somehow someone could feel inspired by my actions.

I recently created a youtube channel after months of debates which I try to keep in line with the topics I discuss in my blog.

Never in my life, would I have ever thought I would have had a blog or a youtube channel?

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My struggle was wondering what people would think about what I do, what I say, and how I behave on both my social media platforms: my youtube channel and blog.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been working in the financial services industry for about six years and there are many things that I love. I really love working in the financial services industry. I come from a background in Finance. I enjoyed studying finance while in university. I believe finance is a very dynamic subject, always changing and adapting to the dynamics of this world.

In my free time, I like to teach finance to other people, especially women and girls. I like to mentor them and coach them. I have a very altruistic personality where helping others is what brings me a lot of satisfaction and fulfillment.

I think what sets me apart from everyone is really my devotion to never stop learning and always finding things to improve myself. Indeed, when I am not working either I’m taking classes or studying for finance certifications.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think what we do has anything to do with luck. I like to think we create our own “luck” with our hard work, devotion, and passion. If you work hard enough, “luck” will come to you.
