Meet Aaron Hayes of V.Stella’Rex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Hayes.

Aaron, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out with an outstanding love for basketball. So much so, I graduated college on a full scholarship. I’m sure the competitive spirit from sports transitioned over into what I’m doing now. After school is when I realized I had a strong love for creativity. Not wanting to pursue overseas basketball opportunities but taking a job in interior design. I learned how to design homes and specialize in the decor of bathrooms and kitchens. Being in the interior design field, it gave me a different perspective, when designing clothes. I was inadvertently gaining knowledge on color pallets and textures. Even though I’m not traditionally trained in fashion design, in interior decor, you use very similar brain muscles.

Just like most, I started from the ground up getting creative with tee shirts and hoodies, doing our absolute best with what we had. Now I would say we have stretched the reach of the brand. Designing items from polos, cardigans, jackets, and denim. Along with accessories like bags, wallets, hats, and mugs. The potential of the company is almost limitless in my eyes, but everyone doesn’t see what you see at first.

Everyone is not going to believe in what you’re doing. They won’t support you either. They will doubt you until you quit. If I could give any advice, it would be find that thing you love and chase it. Love is pure and comes from your heart. If you love something, you’ll never quit on it, and if you never quit, you’ll be able to lay a solid foundation for you to build your legacy. One brick at a time. I feel like people put themselves in boxes that they can’t get out of. I try not to make a box for myself. I feel almost everything is fair game when it comes to creativity. There aren’t any rules in art. You can literally do what you want as an artist. Nobody is your boss but you. That was my ultimate goal as an artist was to be my own boss.

The name “V.Stella’Rex and the logo represent “The idea of perfection.” It’s an imperfect human trying to give their all everyday, putting their best foot forward. Trying to perfect whatever you are doing in life. Whether it’s a job, a hobby, or a passion, giving your all to reach that five star or elite level. We are all imperfect humans in this world today, but V.Stella’Rex is the idea or thought of perfection. It might not all make sense in the beginning. As you keep going on your own journey, things will slowly be revealed to you just don’t give up. This brand represents you giving your all.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was quiet but curious. I had a vibrant imagination. I wanted to be just like my father who played professional basketball in Poland. As I got older, I became very competitive.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I feel like everything that’s great takes time and resilience. Difficult times definitely will test you and show you exactly how strong you really are. As your creative brain grows and gains more knowledge your creative appetite begins to grow as well. You have to find different factories that can make what you want to create. On top of having to also be able to communicate your ideas to these factories that may or may not speak your language. People say they want to have a business but are not willing to wear many hats.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
V.Stella’Rex is a retail brand. We try to present our clothing in a creative way. We are most proud of our visual campaigns. We use visuals to grab our customer’s attention. We give a tasteful yet intriguing vibe to our videos, whether it be a short film or an ad for a seasonal clothing drop. I definitely haven’t come across a clothing brand that presents themselves the way we do visually that is financially independent.

We have a kids campaign that we have been working on for a while now. This project is one that will show that our brand has reach and can appeal to a variety of age groups and ethnicities. We also have a sports campaign in the works when the time is right. A lot of ideas in the vault, but we can only tackle one thing at time. As the ideas keep coming, we will keep creating.
