Meet Adarius Boyd of Coach Boyd in Huntsville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adarius Boyd.

Adarius, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, I had a love for sports, mostly basketball and football. I always told myself if I don’t continue to play, I will always be a leader and teach the game. But it wasn’t just about teaching the game for me it was about the impact I seen I have on my player’s life. I started coaching about two years ago. Started from watching my father and the passion carried on to me. I began coaching my own team last year in Huntsville, AL at local rec centers which I had 10 & Under boys my first year coaching basketball. I then began coaching 8 & Under flag football for another local park in Huntsville, AL. These opportunities give me experience to move to the next level. Now I am about to be a college graduate at Alabama A&M University Dec 2019, with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. During my last year of my college career, I am now one of  the Assistant coach for Jemison High School varsity and the Assistant/Head Coach for Jemison high School Jv.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a smooth road so far, there are quiet challenges when dealing with younger players because you have to deal with parents and also you have to find ways to keep players discipline and on one accord.

Coach Boyd – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
About Coaching, I specialize in being a great defensive coordinator. I am also the skills and conditioning coach. I am most proud of how my players have grown throughout the season. Our record so far is now 8-1, we have two more games left for the regular season, What set me apart from other coaches I think I spend more time being a great mentor outside of just teaching X’s and O’s. I take the time to take the players to church and also other fun activities like dave and buster’s

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is doing what you love and being great at what you do. Success is more of a mindset. I feel successful when I know my kids are prepared for a battle and they handle the battle like warriors.
