Today we’d like to introduce you to Adonnica Genon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Adonnica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hello, my name is Adonnica Genon (formerly known as Notez)… I began my photography journey somewhere between 2013 and 2014, just taking photos of my friend’s around the city of Detroit. After graduating High School at the Detroit School of Arts, I not long after received my first DSLR – Nikon D3200 – and took a leap of faith into shooting consistently with my friends, which eventually lead me to doing $50 photoshoots and just building my way up from there. I have always been divinely guided with my craft, self-taught, and went to college for a small period of time in Florida, but felt like the college routine just wasn’t for me… I have an eye for a variety of subjects, with ‘people’ being my most favorite to capture.
There are many brands, and influential people that I’ve built relationships with throughout the years… in Winter of 2018 I was a photographer for New York Fashion Week and REALLY enjoyed myself, met some amazing people and was very inspired by the essence of being in that type of environment as a photographer.
I am now a mother, which has come with a lot of adjustment in itself, it has forced me into taking a step back and re-evaluating my new path not only as a photographer but an Artist. I am currently in the process of defining my company Solid Studio’s, LLC, and exploring other gifts of mines that lie deep within.
Photography is my best form of self-expression, and I enjoy helping people to see who they really are… and what makes them unique. There have been times where I’ve wanted to give up, because it seemed as if photography was not taking me to the places I wanted to see. However, life does work in circles and I am always brought back to home within my craft. I believe wholeheartedly to never give up on your dreams, and that we have to sometimes take a step back in order to view our life from a different lens… and then capture the moment from a different angle.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, very challenging at times; but that’s what life is made up of… obstacles and challenges. What’s important is how you react to these things that happen.
Adonnica Genon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is Solid Studio’s, LLC which is very much so in the beginning stages. My team and I are working from the ground up to make sure that everything is well thought out and sufficient enough to actually open shop within the next two years. Solid Studio’s will be a complete creative – media space for content creators, photographers, videographers, models and more. I specialize in portrait photography, and am taking steps into shooting more editorial – fashion photography. I feel like I’m known for my retouching style.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the photography industry changing drastically in the next 5-10 years. Right now, with the climate of the world, there will be more opportunity for photographers to create Remotely and get paid BIG money for it. This is a time where many people will be starting up their own businesses, and hosting webinar classes for their companies/skill.
We really don’t know how long this pandemic will last, so this is the time where people are being forced to think outside the box and take that extra leap of faith with their career pursuits.
