Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleksandar Blagojevic.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Aleksandar. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started back in Belgrade, Serbia. My passion for hair and beauty began at a very young age. Despite my parents’ disapproval, I decided to enroll in the Beauty School and start my apprenticeship in one of the most well-known hair salons in Belgrade of that time. I continued my education alongside some of the best in the industry, and attended countless seminars and classes throughout Europe (Graham Webb, Toni & Guy, Vidal Sassoon, Long Hairdressing, and Tigi.)
After many years of developing my craft, I was finally able to make my dream come true by founding Alexandar Salon in downtown Belgrade. Belgrade is a small town and the word about my talent and skills spread quickly. I suddenly became the most demanded hairdresser in the city. My passion led me to Paris, where I entered one of the world’s biggest hairdressing competitions. I won the Cup of Alexandre de Paris in 1997, which ultimately brought me to America. I opened my second salon location in Buckhead in 2007. Both salons are European inspired, blending the finest of worldwide hairstyling innovations.
Over the last 30 years in the beauty industry, I’ve been blessed to have met some of the most amazing individuals who recognized my talent and helped shape me into an artist I am today. One of my proudest accomplishments is becoming a WELLA Top Artist and Ambassador. As the WELLA educator, I get to travel nationwide, teaching aspiring stylists in various cutting/coloring techniques, WELLA trends, and spreading the love I have for hairdressing. I was recognized as the Most Valuable Professional Hairdresser in North America two years in a row and the journey is not over.
I’ve been a guest in many well-known salons, and have also participated in a variety of photoshoots for major fashion magazines such as ELLE. I have also had a privilege to participate in the New York Fashion Week and other renowned runway shows.
I take tremendous pride in my work. It is my personal goal to continue to grow as an artist and excel in my craft and ultimately – share all my knowledge with the world! I am able to do what I love and do it daily.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all. There have been many ups and downs. When I first came to America, my English was terrible. People had a hard time understanding me and I had a difficult time adjusting to the American culture. It took several years to attain the clientele who still follows me today.
Owning a business can be very challenging. Working with others in the beauty industry has its own hardships. But, I am so grateful to be where I am today and the rough road was worth it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Alexandar Salon – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Alexandar Salon, our belief is based on one of a kind quality and meeting very high standards of today’s hairdressing. Our guests receive top of the line customer service and fashion-forward advice on achieving the most beautiful and healthy hair possible.
As a team, we work on ourselves to ensure that our knowledge meets our guests’ expectations and we take pride in our standards of excellence. Our stylists are masters in various levels of scissor cutting and razor cutting techniques. From the well-known wet hair cutting techniques to dry cutting and texturizing, we utilize our knowledge to provide chic, stylish, traditional, and contemporary looks.
As the owner and an artist, I truly care about my employees and clientele. I want for everyone to feel at home when they step through the door.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am hopeful to open more salon locations and potentially a hair academy of sorts. I want to be actively involved in educating the future hairdressers and continue spreading my love for WELLA.
