Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Williams.
Alicia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out by just making my friends and family gift baskets for their birthdays, Christmas and special occasions. Anything that I was invited to was always an opportunity for me to make a nice gift basket. I just always love making gifts that brought a big smile on someone’s face.
I was laid off at the beginning of the year so I figured why not use the money I have to start a gift baskets business. I have the free time so there were no excuses. I was nervous but more excited than anything. I decided to step out on faith and give it my all.
My company name is spelled the French way because I love french! I wanted this company to be about everything I love. My business started February 2019. Here I am now today still taking orders, currently for Christmas,
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This new journey has been extremely challenging. The most challenging part to me was making sure I had all my ducks in a row. I sent plenty of emails to be sure I was doing everything correctly. I also found it was very time-consuming finding wholesalers and keeping track of inventory. I found that most of my frustration came from my shipments being incorrect. This caused my online open date to keep being pushed back. I am grateful for these obstacles because everything is a learning opportunity for me. I can only get better from it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sensationnel Creations, LLC – what should we know?
Sensationnel Creations makes gift baskets and boxes for any occasion. I have done baskets, boxes and party favors for baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, weddings, pets and holidays. I also do gifts for graduation and corporate events. My goal is always to make sure my customers are presenting the best gift. I love to add a little something extra. I’m known for my decorations on my customized gifts baskets. I don’t like anything to really be ordinary. I like to have the WOW factor. I believe what sets me apart from other companies is that I ask personal questions to make sure each customized gift is uniquely made for each person.
My proudest moments being an entrepreneur have been when my customers DM me or email me saying the gift basket was LOVED! That’s what make me smile so big because that means that specific gift achieved my goal. My goal has always been to create a smile through my elegant gifts. That will always make me proud!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I know that my passion is what’s important to my success because I know that no one else can see my vision but me. My passion is what’s helping me push through the toughest obstacles.
