Meet Amber Morris of Oil On My Hands in Jonesboro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Morris.

Amber, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My son was born with eczema with discoloration all over with dry spots on major parts of his body. The doctors had him on steroids and creams and his skin was getting used to the treatments and my son was in pain. I did a lot of research on natural remedies to help with skin conditions like eczema. Shea Butter was one of the number one things that came up and I began to create a formula that worked for him! His skin improved within a year! It is going on six years and has “Beautifully Flawed” skin! I have always been passionate about my own skin so when my son was suffering it gave me a purpose to build a foundation and legacy for him by healing one skin at a time! When I decided to make it a business the name came so natural and quickly. I was listening to Corrine Bailey Rae “Like A Star” and instantly fell in love with the line of, “Just like a song in my heart, Just like Oil On My Hands” and my business name was born! January 2019 will be going on two years of being a business! Now I am expanding into more body and bath products like masks, candles, incense and more. After seeing what I can do for my son I want to help heal anyone and everyone’s skin organically. Let us love the skin we are in inside and out!

Has it been a smooth road?
Every business is going to have its ups and downs whether temporary, permanent, minor or major! My obstacle was how to fund a business, who will support my business and how to run a business on my own. I was driven to make it a reality that I just started and ran with it! I would use money left over from paying bills to buy my labels, jars, and ingredients. I created and handmade everything myself! I was motivated and pushed to see my business get off the ground slowly but surely! Growth comes with trials and errors but as long as you try and keep going through your journey it will all be worthwhile!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Oil On My Hands – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am Oil On My Hands! I am the owner, creator of all my products, operations, marketing manager, and salesman! Oil On My Hands specializes and known for our whipped shea butter but has taken off in other areas such as face care and body scrubs! What sets me apart from others is my genuine love for others and wanting to heal people. Understanding the complications of eczema with my son made that love grow even stronger. I am open to people by giving them advice if I am knowledgeable to help. Everyone wants to be beautiful but I want to give them that healing power through heart, soul and lastly the eyes to be “YOUniquely” Beautiful. We all have to be comfortable with who we are and love every inch of ourselves and I want to help see it through!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the Atlanta small business love at local events! I have met and became friends with so many other small businesses like Suga Rush, Manifest Ur Dreams, Modakrave just to name a few. There are so many others to name that I have had the pleasure of meeting!! The way we all come together as a community is so beautiful. The least that I love about the city is, of course, the traffic but who does not. Whether we like it or not as long as there are people to drive in the city the bigger the small businesses can grow!
