Today we’d like to introduce you to Amiyra King.
Amiyra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Driven by the belief that communication is the key to life and inspired by six-year-old Aspen King, Journal Joy was founded to encourage literacy amongst children. I was determined to instill in both my children a love of reading. So, when they were still babies, I talked to them as if they could understand every word I said – no baby talk. Real conversations. And while they were still babies, I began our nightly tradition of a bed-time story. Now, as a toddler and big kid, my children love reading. Reading is their first hobby of choice, it excites them and exposes them to different topics while expanding their vocabulary. Recently, they’ve launched that love into writing their own books, sharing their experiences with the world through words.
Along with their books, we have since launched a Pajama Line, to increase that love for literacy through a nightly tradition of what we’ve had since they were babies. Jammie Joy, LLC aims to inspire children all around the world to always read a book before bed.
Has it been a smooth road?
With any new business, there are highs and lows, fears, and doubts. But, ultimately, my goal is to make my children’s dreams a reality.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the Diversity in Marietta, the multitude of small businesses, and the comfort of a calm lifestyle raising a family. Sometimes, I wish we were closer to the city. 🙂
