Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Kerschner.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I would say that I really got into photography when my daughter was born in 2003. I wanted to document her growth every month and at the time I really could not afford to have them professionally done. I realized that I really enjoyed photography and made it a point to learn what I could to perfect my art. I began photographing family and friends and found that this was something that I really wanted to do. I love that photography is an area where I can always grow and learn new things.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One struggle I have found as a professional photographer, would have to be creating a client base. When I began doing photography we lived in Indiana, where all of my family and friends live (which is great for referrals). Since then, we have moved to Texas and then to Georgia where we are currently. Each time, it is like starting over.
Please tell us about Amy Kerschner Photography.
I am a natural light photographer, I love using nature as my backdrop! I do many different types of photography; Family, Babies, Children, Engagement/Couples, Senior Portraits, etc. I have also recently branched out into Real Estate Photography with my company, Amy Kerschner Real Estate Photography. You can check this out on Facebook at facebook.com/amykerschnerrealestatephotography.
I would say my favorite types of Sessions are probably Seniors/Fashion and Engagements/Couples. But, truly, I love it all! I view my business as an art form. I always try to create emotion and feeling in my images. I want my art to hold memories for generations to come!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would have to say my favorite childhood memory would have to be growing up with my sister. We are close in age, so we ended up playing (and fighting) together a lot. I would not change a thing! To me, family is so important! All of my favorite memories include my family… holiday get-togethers like Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July cook-outs, etc. Those were the best times!
