Today we’d like to introduce you to Aquintas (Quint) Jones.
Aquintas, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story started in Bridgeport, CT in 2006; My Life Has Destiny, was birthed out of pain and suffering. God used me to help other women come out of abuse and to provide a safe haven for them to come together to tell the story, to communicate to others like them; so, they would know they are not alone and to be a help and a resource to other women. In 2012 I moved to Carrollton, GA, although I didn’t know anyone in that area, God saw fit to send women that needed their gifts to be cultivated, and women that needed a support system to navigate towards me. Once again, My Life Has Destiny manifested. I currently reside in Wilmington, NC and I am under the leadership of Pastor Roxanne George of Holistic Temple Outreach Ministries. As of this year My Life Has Destiny has collaborated with Stop Movement to host domestic violence events. Our goal is to touch someone’s life daily and to provide a resource to women and men that need a platform to start their journey of healing. God has been our help in times of trouble and He is using us to help others.
Has it been a smooth road?
This question caused some tears to spring up. My life has never had a smooth road to travel. I grew up in a single parent home. My dad suffered from addiction. As a little girl I watched my mom go through physical abuse in every relationship she was in. I vowed this would not be me. (Be careful when you vow). At the age of 17 I was on my own, I ended up in negative relationship after negative relationship. At 20 I had my first daughter, at 22 I got pregnant again and had my second daughter and then I got married to her father. I thought this man was my life partner. To make a long story short, I ended up in verbal abuse, mental abuse, financial abuse and spiritual abuse; this relationship almost cost me my life due to the stress. I woke up one day and I could not walk. I went to the doctors, test after test, to find out my body had deteriorated and my uterus had collapsed. It was surgery or die. At the age of 34 I had to have an emergency hysterectomy. My birthright was taken. My Life Has Destiny had already been in existence for 2 years and so many women were being helped. And God finally spoke to me and stated I cannot live a double life. I cannot be in abuse and teach women how to come out of abuse. At that point my mind was made up. I decided to live and get out of the mess I was in. In 2009 I left the marriage, the church and I walked in my Destiny.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the My Life Has Destiny story. Tell us more about the organization.
My Life Has Destiny is a women’s organization that educates women on abuse. We also provide a platform for men and women to share, because men go through abuse also. We provide a safe haven as a support to help women to communicate what they have gone through or are going through. Our goal is to start a transition center so women will have a means to come out of abuse and transition back into society.
We offer different opportunities for people to start their own business and earn extra income. For example, I am also in the health and wellness industry, also known as the CBD industry. Although we can’t make medical claims our products are helping people with everyday health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes and our weight loss products are helping thousands of people lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. For those that are interested in partnering and becoming the CEO of their own company we offer them this opportunity. They receive their own website and a mentoring group to help them succeed in business.
I am also the author of a book titled(Get Up & Get Out Your Own Way) my goal is for this book to be known worldwide. It is a self-help book that helps many people deal with so many issues that we repress. I also remind the reader of who they are through definitive definitions, scripture, identification and affirmations.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next 5-10 years I see my industry offering affordable housing, having a transition center and a host of rooming houses to assist women and men to get back on their feet. I also see our organization providing more opportunities for others to work from home by starting their own online business.
