Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Shaw.
Ariel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
How did I get where I am today? Persistence.
I am the only daughter of two retired U.S. Armed Force Veterans who individually served this country over 25 years each. I was taught servant leadership from a young age and to ensure that whatever your calling is in life, be sure to make a difference, not just a living.
After completing my Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and my MBA, I had the opportunity to work across many sectors that included politics, federal and local government, non-profit and more. While working to expand the footprint of 350 physicians across the state of Georgia, with the Medical College of Georgia, I was fortunate to be one of the most sought out individuals to assist with strategic business planning and marketing. I notably helped open MCG Nephrology Associates and elevate MCG Reproductive Medicine & Infertility Associates while still with the Medical College, by partnering with leadership, physicians, and key department heads. Because of my work here and understanding the politics of key geographic areas and sectors, I was asked to create key roadmaps and plans for private businesses. This birthed AS Consulting LLC, a logistical and management firm that assists small businesses, individuals, and now government entities. In the past several years, I brought my political passion, political background and skills, having worked on multiple campaigns and serving as Legislative Aide for S.C. House District 113, to a small section of AS Consulting LLC, where we work with vetted political candidates to gain a political seat. However, we ensure not to allow the sectors to intertwine and it remains ethically sound.
While I enjoy my work, my passion for community takes over. I have since founded an initiative, Real Leaders Read Initiative, where I have partnered with leaders from Henry County and the surrounding areas to help increase literacy among the youth. We have donated over 500 books to children, grades K through 2, where each child received at least one book of their own choosing. This has been in effect for school years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. This past year, we have anchored Real Leaders Read in an after-school book all girls book club, named “Real Queens Read”, a name chosen by the girls. I received State Honors by the Georgia Assembly in 2018 for this initiative and my work in this area. You can find out more info at www.realleadersread.org.
As of January 2019, I have also launched a business support and networking group for women-owned businesses and women in business in the Southern Crescent area. The response to this has been amazing support and has been well attended by local businesses and elected officials. The end goal of this will be women supporting each other in our efforts to increase our bottom line. You can connect with us at www.hcwibga.org.
Ariel Shaw, MBA has recently gained the recommendation of US Congressman David Scott to the National Women’s Business Council. The National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) is a non-partisan federal advisory council established to serve as an independent source of advice and policy recommendations to the President, the Congress, and the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration on issues related to women’s business enterprise.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As Theodore Roosevelt stated, “Nothing in this world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty…” No, things have not been easy or smooth for me, but I was created for such a time as this.
Staying around positivity is very important and needed. I have a great support system, my faith is strong and my village is solid. These factors were important when I went through a tumultuous divorce and are still important today. It was a true test to my faith but I stayed focused and my persistence has paid off. I cannot stress it enough…I stayed focused on what was most important and ignored the distractions.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the AS Consulting LLC story. Tell us more about the business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I do not believe in luck. I am faith-based woman and believe that God will provide opportunities for you when you are ready. The key is to get ready and stay ready. God honors your work. Sometimes, people go for years and just plant without “seeing” any harvest. However, I truly believe that if one stays consistent, disciplined, and obedient, you will see the benefits. According to Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
In other words, stay the course and it will work out for the best.
