Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariyanna Ingram.
Ariyanna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my business on June 8, 2017, at the age of 18 years old. I only worked one 9 to 5 job at a clothing store called Bonnie’s in stone crest mall. I hated that job it was a complete flop. I quit after a few months and was jobless. I have always done hair so I turned to hair in the meantime for extra income. However, once I graduated high school I knew it was time for me to come up with a plan because I knew I didn’t want to go to a 4-year college. Instead, I said hmm I’m super girly, I love hair, nails, and makeup so why not start a business! I started selling lip balms at school before then, but it didn’t sell I had no knowledge on running a business, but I just researched and researched and I found out that you can actually make lipgloss. Like from scratch on your own home, so I took it and ran with it and never looked back! I graduated high school may 2017 and started my business right after! I was soon it! I have always been a hustler, always so it was only right to start my own business. I also finished Cosmetology School, still waiting to become a licensed master cosmetologist! Moral of my story, I had a vision, I was driven and I was determined to be great! Now, I am two years in and my business is almost a six-figure business at the age of 20, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without my supporters.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, it hasn’t been a smooth road, no business is perfect! I have faced plenty of obstacle from chargebacks, refunding customers, complaints, opinions, etc. but with that, comes growth and I overcame every obstacle with good customer service! That is extremely important when running a business leaving your mark because it sticks with people forever! No matter how rude someone was to me about an order or the process of an order I am always respectful. Any obstacle can be faced, I just stay open-minded.
Please tell us more about your business, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My business is a Cosmetics line. I sell lipgloss, lipstick, eyeshadow palettes, eyebrow pencils, makeup brushes, etc. I am also a hairstylist who mainly specializes in extensions. I am known for my lipglosses and fabulous mink lashes! I am most proud of the growth of my company because I literally started out with just lipgloss then I saved enough to put back into my business to branch off and sell lashes, then I was able to keep adding products to my business. What sets me apart from others is my passion and my originality, my brand in general!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I like that there is an ample amount of people which means networking is definitely amazing here. I love that there are so many young bosses and people you can talk to here. It’s nothing that I really don’t like about our city! It’s amazing and filled with so many opportunities.
