Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Stamoulis.
Ashley grew up surrounded by a family of entrepreneurs stretching back through the generations. “My experience was that you grew up, went to college, came back to Savannah and started a business. And you did it all with graciousness and an innate sense of style,” she says. After spending more than a decade raising her three children, she says she felt the family calling. “I began SUTHINGIRL to help grow the small businesses I support and to share my love for style and the South.”
Ashley and SUTHINGIRL have become synonymous with fashion, food and finer things in the South. The brand’s SUTHINSTYLE BOX is a seasonal subscription box filled with items hand-selected from southern makers and inspired by life in the South. Boxes contain a mix of jewelry, clothing, books, art, tech accessories, beauty finds, edible treats and more. “Everything has a story and is something I love,” she says. “Customers love the fun of discovering new favorites. It’s a big, pink box filled to the brim with $200 worth of goodies for only $50!”
‘Look Good, Feel Good’ is a core SUTHINGIRL value. “Two of our children have learning differences. We feel infinitely blessed to live in a city with the resources to enable them to continue their love of learning and maintain high self-esteem. Most children are not so fortunate.” SUTHINGIRL donates 20% from the sale of every SUTHINSTYLE BOX to Education Cures, an Atlanta-based 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to developing and improving education programs for children in communities around the world.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have struggled with limiting the scope of my business. There’s so much I want to do! I have discovered that the more specific and clear-voiced a brand is in this day and age of online sales and infinite choices, the easier it is for like-minded people to find and connect with you.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is connecting with customers in a genuine way. Providing value by introducing them to new southern makers and goods. I am successful when the makers featured inside my box connect with new customers via SUTHINGIRL and their business and social media footprint grows.
