Meet Ashton Martin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashton Martin.

Ashton, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a Hip-Hop lyricist that grew up in Marianna Florida around various genres of music with a close family tie to Hip Hop, Gospel, and R&B which greatly influenced my sound today. I started writing around the age of 12 and released my first project shortly after high school. I was proud of the feedback I received so this inspired me to take my craft a bit more serious. I have since released 2 Albums with one additional, “Solid”, released March 3, 2019.

I moved to Atlanta August 2017 because of the music scene and proud that I did. I have met so many great people and love the work ethic of individuals here. I try to make sure I always surround myself around those individuals because they also encourage me not to give up when times get hard.

In April of 2018, I began to do music full-time. Last summer (2018), I officially went on my first tour to promote my last album, “You’re Welcome”. I got the opportunity to open up for legendary artists such as Lil Flip, Keke, and ESG which really was a great opportunity for me. I am currently set to go on tour Internationally this summer to Europe and Canada and looking forward to it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have definitely had many struggles along the way. Actually, my “Solid” Album talks about just that. Last summer around my tour, I went through an extended hardship. Actually lost my car the day of the tour, during the tour lost all of my possessions and came back to Atlanta to no place to stay. I was literally homeless from a short period. I was not living on the streets but It was definitely a hard pill to swallow to have lost everything in such a short time frame. Today I look back now and know it was a blessing in disguise.

Please tell us about Ashton Martin.
I am a Lyricist, Singer, and Songwriter. I am most known for my music but I also host the Emerge Open Mic showcase every Thursday at the Gill Gallery (@thegillgallery). I like to say that I am a very versatile artist and have music for everyone including the youth. My songs will always have lyrics but it may be the type of song you just vibe to, or it may be the type of song that gets you dancing and hype.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really believe in luck. I believe that if you work hard, good things come to you. I have been truly blessed to be in the position that I am in.
