Today we’d like to introduce you to Barrington Martin II.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story starts in the fourth grade, an assignment to write a story birthed my passion for writing thanks to my grandmother who cultivated my writing abilities. Over time, as I became more skilled into the craft, I used it as a means to help others, make money for myself, but more notably a means to express my thoughts, my feelings, and a way to emote. In process of growing into my own individuality and adapting a love for fashion and my overall aesthetic, I developed a love for modeling. Thus within the winter of 2017, ModelScholar LLC was created as a way to combine both of my passions together. My love for writing and my love for modeling combined.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I feel like in discovering who you are in relation to what the world expects of you is always a challenge. I feel that a peace of mind is hard to obtain when there are so many eternal factors that conflict with many of the imposing ideologies within society today. In discovering the things that I love and am passionate, it has been a long process of trial and error, failure, many setbacks, as well as struggles. I’ve been told no. I’ve been denied. I’ve been turned away. I’ve lost countless times; however, I still continue going because without experiencing any of this, I would not be in the position that I am in today, ready to fulfill my destiny. Even now, continuing my journey, there are still hardships that occur and there will be many more; yet, I am very happy with the space that I am in right now, with a greater understanding of what I seek in life and what I plan to accomplish.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with ModelScholar – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
ModelScholar LLC is my personal brand that combines two of my passions: writing and modeling. “Model” (of course), constitutes the modeling aspects of myself, combining my love for fashion and the art of modeling. My goal is to bring forth an aesthetic into high fashion modeling that not typically seen within high fashion, that is, men similar to my build, who are athletic in nature. “Scholar” denotes my scholastic side. I’m currently finishing up a Masters program in African American studies at Georgia State University with plans on pursuing a doctorate in Philosophy.
So basically, with my background in scholastics as with my passion for writing, I plan to produce literally content designed to convey thought within my readers. I personally feel like I am one of the best writers that’s not known in the world today and I plan to prove this with my work. Ultimately, the combination of the two terms brings forth an aspects of me that I want to share in hopes of helping people get closer towards their dreams, truly believing in themselves, while inspiring them to make the choice in doing the things that make them happy.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have some developments in the works this year that I’m keeping under wraps until they come to fruition; however, the two most vital plans for the future I have is to get signed by a major modeling agency. So if you’re reading this… HIRE ME!!!! Lol. Also, I plan to release my first book this year which will be a collection of essays, poems, and short stories.
