Today we’d like to introduce you to Boi Blue.
So, before we jump into specific questions about your music, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hey, I’m Lavar McRae, also known as Boi Blue, and I am a recording artist from Atlanta. I love music. I’ve been involved in it professionally for nine years now. Like any other musician, I started from humble beginnings, started writing poetry as a child and went to church on Sunday like every kid in the south. I met my producer Triandos VibeGod Stroud in 2009 and began making music together. We developed a sound, he being a drum major from Alabama and me being a lyricist from Atl.
We started our label and imprinted Relentless EMG in 2011. Over the years, we’ve put out numerous recordings that have accumulated thousands of streams and revenue independently. We’ve been associated with established recording artists such as Pastor Troy ( DSGB), Big Rube (Dungeon Family) and etc. Other than being an entrepreneur, I’m also a dedicated father and future husband. My goal is to inspire not only through music but in life as well.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s definitely been a bumpy road, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, especially being an independent owner, I pride myself on that but it’s rough because I handle a lot of manual labor. I’m pretty much hands-on with everything, from booking my own shows, promoting, and etc. Being consistent was one of my biggest struggles; running a business and maintaining relationships were very hard for me. But I’m getting better!
We’d love to hear more about Relentless EMG.
Relentless EMG is an independent record label owned by myself with the help of my associate Triandos Stroud which he is mostly on the production side of things. We specialize in music, art, fashion, and merchandising. What I am most proud about is being a owner, and working with people that I love, being a great creative, and creating opportunities for others. Being the best at what I do, and that’s being myself, being honest, and my creativity set me apart from others.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Outside of music, my goal is to inspire in real life as well. Me and a few of my business partners are looking into starting development activities for the youth the will help them further their opportunities. Food drives, free pop up concerts, starting up my own YouTube TV series, getting married, and hopefully touring and signing other artists in the future.
