Meet Bradley Harris, Goldsmith in North Brookhaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Harris.

Bradley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
At the age of 15, I began my journey to become a jeweler by working part time after school with an established, high end jeweler in Asheville, NC. At that time, I didn’t know that jewelry would become my destiny. I trained as an apprentice as a teenager under a highly skilled craftsman, and soon found I had a gift in working with jewelry. I enrolled in the GIA Gemology program in 1983, and continued on my journey to become a Goldsmith and Gemologist.

At the age of 20, I moved to Atlanta, GA to make my way in “the Big City”. In 1989, after working for a couple of jewelers in Atlanta, I decided I would go into business for myself, providing custom design jewelry and repairs for various jewelers in the Atlanta area. Over time friends, and friends of friends began coming to me for their work. Pretty soon the referrals exceeded my wholesale design and repair business for the trade. This transition couldn’t have please me more, because I enjoy working directly with my customers more than anything.

Soon, many referrals came to me for diamond engagement rings. Since I have a good relationship with many wholesale diamond cutters and traders, in the US and internationally for more than 20 years, I am able to sell diamonds to the public at extremely competitive prices with the big stores, because I have much lower overhead.

Now, after more than 28 years in business, I am a well-seasoned Jeweler/Goldsmith, a GIA Graduate Gemologist, an A+ Rated Member of the Atlanta Better Business Bureau, a Registered Jeweler and a Member of the esteemed American Gem Society. You can trust in my expertise to be knowledgeable in diamonds, gemstones, custom designs, fine jewelry sales, appraisals, and jewelry repair.

We recently moved our suite space in the office building we have been in for almost 20 years, to the first floor. I have an awesome new showroom with many of the newest designs and styles.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In this business, there are always ups and downs. I have always tried to stay focused on being a service to my customers as opposed to “making the sale”. Even through the great recession of 2008, I managed to survive, I think because of the loyalty and trust my customers of many years have in me.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I deal in fine diamonds, precious gemstones, platinum and karat gold jewelry. I specialize in diamonds, custom designing, expert jewelry repairs and restoration, original designs, and jewelry appraisals, I am a full service jeweler for every fine jewelry need in the Atlanta area. I am a GIA Graduate Gemologist and have over 35 years’ experience in the jewelry business.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment in my career? That’s hard to pin down a single moment. I am mostly proud of my customers’ trust and loyalty, and their excitement to refer their friends and family to me. I am proud and thankful to have stayed in business for almost 30 years now.
