Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Holley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brenda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I love a story! I was in professional staffing for 34 years and my degree is in HR, making me one of the few people who actually work in their degree field.
I have three coaching certifications and my last and final one was a Masters Certification. While I’ve been coaching for 16 years, I put my whole focus on it at the end of 2017 when I hung up the corporate hat once and for all and threw myself heart first into coaching full time.
I have had a handful of clients for those first 14 years. The business took off with laser focus. Funny how that happens! My business niches are women at mid-life and career change.
I am a woman at mid-life and I’m a huge believer in this group of talented and wise women. I have individual clients as well as a twice a month group coaching program for them called MOmentum JOurney, MOJO for short.
The career change came as such a natural. I have placed literally thousands of people in jobs over the years. I now help people navigate the waters from the standpoint of a great resume, thorough situation assessment, clear identification of their job must haves and desires, a personality assessment if desired, targeted company list and candidate activity schedule coupled with invaluable job search pointers.
I also provide training on business subjects and consulting to several companies.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No smooth road. More like try it, back up and punt, try again, assume the punting position, and on we go. I tried several programs that I struggled to fill because I didn’t have a robust enough client list to successfully launch them at that phase of the business.
My lessons have been learned through the mantra of trial and error. I’m still in that phase in some respects although the business has tripled this year so far. I’m very much in the discovery phase in many ways. I suspect I always will be and that’s okay.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am the sole proprietor of Brenda Holley. I have great sets of additional hands for my website, my social media and writing.
I do focus on mid-life women.
Here’s just a few things this group of ageless women are doing:
• In our country alone, women decide where between $5 to $15 trillion of spending goes annually. That’s trillion with a T.
• Starting businesses as they mature at record rates and with more frequency than men.
• Consumers who are 50 plus in the United States control 83% of household wealth. Women are the ultimate consumers of most goods, including houses and cars. 83%. That is powerful.
There’s much more!
I offer a career search coaching component that is distinguished by my eight step program and my years in the employment field. My staffing experience has been invaluable. Yes, I have placed thousands of people. I have also worked with thousands of companies, giving my unparalleled exposure. Having someone to partner with during this critical phase of life change is invaluable.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve had some of both. I don’t focus a lot on either. I am responsible for my life, my choices and my destiny. When one stops and thinks about it, a lot of people have a problem with that fact.
I don’t leave anything that matters to me up to fate. That would be a scary thought.
