So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I had insecurities about my acne and facial blemishes, which provided me with an early introduction to a “skincare routine”. For years, I went from product to product, recommendation after recommendation without finding a consistent solution to my concerns. In December 2019, I began attending ISSN (International School for Skin & Nails) with the goal to become a licensed esthetician and to one day open a beauty spa. As I gained more knowledge about how to properly clean and maintain healthy skin, I was determined to create results for myself. I decided to order an ingredient book, which included many organic, vegan and cruelty-free ingredients that were beneficial to the skin, and I began to create recipes for myself.
The first recipe I fell in love with was my coffee-scrub. After testing the product in my daily facial routine, I realized I was seeing fast results to my long-lasting concerns. I was so excited about my results that I asked several close friends to try it out. Upon hearing how highly they spoke of their experience and seeing the results produced, I knew there were more people who would also enjoy it.
That was the beginning… I started my company with $200 by purchasing the ingredients for our Coffee-infused Beauty Scrub, the supplies used for creation, and the packaging for shipping. With the help of some close friends, I created labels and a website to place orders. Within 24 hours, I sold 11 scrubs, allowing me to make my investment back plus nearly $200 in profit. As of July (two months in), I’ve added three more products and I’m blessed to have received almost 200 orders and over $6,000 in sales.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m thankful to reflect that it has been an extremely smooth road, and I believe it’s because I’ve found my lane. Creating the products was a natural process for me after completing my due diligence by comparing the market, developing my recipes and sourcing each of the ingredients. I have a solid support team, which I’m extremely grateful for, so when I needed graphic design work for my website and labeling or when I needed a helping hand to send out products, I had people to call on. 95% of my sales have come from my social media, close friends and family, which has been a blessing.
While I’ve been an entrepreneur for over a year now, this has been my first experience shipping physical products to customers, which has been a learning experience. Shipping products and effectively communicating with customers regarding the status of their package deliveries has been one thing I’ve struggled with. Time management has also been something I’ve struggled with because there are several components involved with preparing, fulfilling and shipping products. Through both adversities, I’ve become stronger and I’ve grown into a better leader, servant and CEO. I have faith in God that every challenge I’m facing is preparing me for the greater and better that is to come.

As I approach completion of my esthetician certification, I will be extending our services to include facials, massages, eyelash extensions and more. So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The sky is the limit and anything is possible. I’m thankful to have vision and to be able to see my future very clear. As we enter the third quarter of 2020, we will be opening our first boutique location in the Metro Atlanta area, in addition to our first remote location in Louisville, Kentucky. These are major milestones for us because this will provide our customers an opportunity to purchase products in person without waiting for delivery.
We have also been further developing our product line and there are four new products being released within the next 30 days. Hint: My favorite of the new products is our “Royal Body Butter”. Our main focus has been extending our reach by providing more products, increasing our visibility, and revamping our brand design. New website on the way and new packaging as well.
