Meet Brittany Battle of Impact Dance and Cheer Company in Griffin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Battle.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brittany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story is a rags to riches for sure… Where do I start? In 2010 I started coaching recreational cheer for our community little league football teams in Spalding County. At the time, I didn’t have any children but I had a passion for mentoring and work with children. Between 2010-2013 the process was a little challenging when dealing with peers, coaches, parents etc. and a hard decision came and I had to stop coaching and move to Spartanburg, South Carolina to take a job. The kids and parents constantly called to check on me, which made it very hard to stay away. They were insistent on me coming back to Georgia, especially since in 2014, I had a daughter of my own. Leaving a career opportunity of a lifetime to focus on what I loved was the craziest thing I’ve ever done but the best thing I could do for myself! Follow your passion… I have to constantly tell myself that!

In 2015 I moved back to Georgia and thought I would be able to start back where I left off. WRONG! The recreation department had moved on in a new direction. New teams and coaches. So I asked myself, what do I do now? And just like that, IMPACT was born. In true business fashion, when you don’t have a lane… create one! I reached out to a high school classmate and we worked together to grow Impact Dance and Cheer Company. She handled dance and I handled cheer. We marketed the program as an extension of the Parks and Recreation circuit and practiced outside or at the city park gym. Once we outgrew the city park, I knew the next move was a place of our own. Starting with only 22 girls, we peaked at 103 girls for both competitive teams and recreational teams.

Opening the Impact Studio was a great day for me but with big blessings come bigger responsibilities! My classmate and I parted ways in 2019 unexpectedly but sometimes people grow apart. This separation was a challenge for me because I knew what the vision was and I couldn’t understand how or when it changed. I took that as a sign of strength for me to stay the course and press forward. I had some amazing coaches and parents that supported me but 2019 continued to get worse. My father’s health declined, my career responsibilities became more demanding, and life itself continued creating roadblocks and closed doors. After much deliberation, I closed the studio down. That rush of emotion was just unexplainable and for the first time in my life, I felt like I was truly done. After my father passed away, I took some time for myself to regroup and collect my thoughts. No matter the time of success or elevation, I just felt like a part of me was lost. Suddenly, you come across someone that believes in you and believes in your vision and pushes you to rise. In your darkest hour God will always send your light. My light happened to be a very close friend of mine. He pushed me further then I thought I could go but that is exactly what I needed. It’s crazy how people see more in you than you see in yourself.

Throughout this journey, I knew my purpose and I made a promise to myself… ALWAYS IMPACT WITH PASSION & PURPOSE. The competitive world is by far my end game. I absolutely love it! So after my internal work, and external networking I decided to reopen the program. My quarantine year will be the best season I’ve ever had. A solid team that has always had my back, a bigger facility, more participants, and some awesome parents ready to make it happen for these intelligent, talented young ladies. My mentor once told me, “Never worry about who counted you out just know they obviously can’t count!”

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me, is defined by the journey. Staying the course and learning from mistakes, learning how to live past roadblocks, learning how to strategize when doors are closed in your face. Success is not about the elevator to the top or the outcome of your manifestation it is truly about each step, each tear, each heartache that you push through and the value of each step it takes to get you there. Now that’s success… the true, realistic story, the grind, the struggle, the journey to the top!
