Meet Brittany Borges

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Borges.

Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started back in 2019 after I graduated college and entered the workforce. Initially, I started with social media by taking photos for Instagram like a lot of others. I continued to create content while working my full-time job. Like many others, I was dissatisfied working the standard 9-5. I decided it was time to take a step in the direction I wanted my life to be. I thought the solution was being my own boss. Shortly after, I began my lashing career. Lashing gave me the freedom I desired, I was looking for a deeper sense of fulfillment. Still left me unfulfilled. However, when it came to creating the content for my business that brought me excitement. This is when I decided I wanted to take social media seriously and figure out how to monetize it. I have had many jobs, and social media has been my favorite. With this career, it has given me an opportunity to learn more about myself and fill up my own cup.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s very easy to think that everything comes easy because of what we see on social media. Remember, people only share what they want you to see. Social media is changing every day and there is no step-by-step process on “how to make it”. Every day is different and some are going to be amazing and some will not be. We don’t discuss how open-minded and persistent you must be in this industry. This journey is filled with obstacles. It’s common to have doubts and even question yourself. Here are some practices that have helped me: 1. Don’t focus on the numbers! Be proud and happy with the content you’re producing. If you’re putting out good quality content brands and people will respect that more. 2. Take breaks. I agree that consistency is essential to growing your platform. What I do is batch my content so I don’t have to film or edit every day. 3. Create a support group of people. 4. Being present. Try not to focus on what’s next. Practice gratitude for your accomplishments and wherever you’re at in your journey. 5. Post content that makes you happy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Becoming a content creator has allowed me to learn so much about myself. When video content started to become more popular, I wanted to share my other passions. Recently I’ve been sharing my beauty, makeup, and hair routines/tutorials. I’ve worked many different jobs and by far social media has been the most rewarding for me. It’s given me the opportunity to learn more about myself and reach my personal goals. For me, it doesn’t stop at creating content though. I have a much bigger goal in this journey and I’m very excited to share when that time comes. However, my main goal with it is to create an uplifting community where we can connect and create opportunities for ourselves.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Perseverance, dedication, discipline, creativity, open-mindedness, and self-compassion. It’s very easy to become discouraged and compare yourself to others but acknowledge and celebrate your own accomplishments.
