Brittney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Tiny Tub because of my mom. She always talked about essential oils and how they helped her relax, without taking sleeping pills. She would rub lavender essential oil on the bottom of her feet and have the best sleep… After learning more about essential oils and their natural power, I became curious. I was always searching for natural remedies that healed the body. After trying my mom’s sleep remedy, I remember waking up feeling amazing! As I got older, after a long day I would just want to relax my mind and body. The best way for me to relax was to take a bath and drink hot tea, especially if I was not feeling well.
One evening, I decided to mix a few drops of essential oils in a cup of bath salts and poured it into my bathwater. I was amazed at how relaxed my mind and body became. I realized after having my time in the tub, simply having a moment to myself to decompress, I was able to focus and meditate. After that bath, I completed the night with a hot tea. This began a routine for me and ultimately inspired me to create a business. I saw how following that remedy was an easy way to feel better and enrich my life and I wanted to do that for others. Tiny Tub, LLC is here today because I wanted to share my experience and help people to ease their minds and bodies with natural products. So, I decided to create a line of all-natural bath teas that would play a vital role in how people cared for themselves.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far, it has been a smooth journey. Although running a business has its ups and downs, I definitely have moments where I forget running a business is more than mixing and creating products. At first, my process came from having an idea, getting the ingredients and mixing them, before testing them out and sharing it with the world. It wasn’t until someone asked me how much each batch cost to make before it started to connect for me how this could be much more than a small hobby. This was a pivotal moment for the business; one that pushed me to get back to the books and focus on the business aspect.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tiny Tub – what should we know?
Tiny Tub focuses on providing natural remedies that assist in healing the mind, body, and soul. We aid our customers in welcoming a holistic way of living. Each bath tea consists of handmade blends of essential oil and dried herbs; each assisting with relaxation. Our bath teas can also help boost your energy when if you feel like you need a pick me up. While our bath teas help relieve muscle aches and common health complaints, it also promotes self-care. I am the founder and owner, specializing in helping people rest.
I am known for making bath teas, body oils and sleep oils, which moisturizes and triggers the body into relax mode. I am so proud of the growth of the company and never get tired of listening to our customers tell me how great they felt after using my bath teas.
I remember having a vision board party with my friends last year and one of my goals was for Tiny Tub to participate in at least one festival or event as a vendor. By the end of the year, I was a vendor for four events! I truly believe in the power of manifestation, so the feeling of not only meeting my goal but exceeding it was a huge accomplishment for myself and for Tiny Tub.
What sets me apart from everyone else is my desire to not only sell products but to connect with customers in a way that inspires them to adopt a more natural lifestyle and live holistically. It is that desire that also fuels community building of like-minded individuals who support each other no matter their endeavors. That’s also why I’m so grateful to organizers like the Craft Savvy Market for allowing my business space to grow and connect with other talented crafters. In addition to sales and networking, we try to be intentional about including general information and producing innovative content that assists our customers in understanding the products and their natural benefits.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
At this point, I believe consistency and passion has been the most key characteristics in my overall success with the company. I’ve learned not to spend time doing anything that you aren’t 100% invested in. I can honestly say that this business is truly an outlet and therapeutic for me. However, like most things you love, this business takes work. Staying consistent and giving myself room to learn and grow and try new things has greatly impacted the business and I look forward to everything the future holds for Tiny Tub.
