Meet Brittney Young of Sensual Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Young.

Brittney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2013, upon graduating culinary school, I knew that I wanted to venture out into having my own business. Though it was just an idea in the beginning, I started to take myself a little more seriously after few people suggested that I start my own because of how delicious my food was.

I officially started my own business in 2014 while I was still working part time in the restaurant field and it wasn’t until, 2017 when I actually decided to take a leap of faith and quit my job to work on my business full time. The road has and is definitely not easy but I have achieved many goals and successes to get to where I am and I am just getting started!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh no! It has definitely been many challenges and mistakes made along the way. From recipe disasters to bad money management, to bad time management and many more things. I questioned myself several time with questions like, “do I know what I’m doing”, I should be beyond this mistake by now”, “am I really as good as I think I am?”. I’ve endured many setbacks and stagnant seasons along the way. But I believe in the power of endurance!

Please tell us about Sensual Kitchen.
I am the owner of Sensual Kitchen a catering company based in Atlanta. I specialize in catering, meal prepping, personal chef, desserts and special events. Customers know me best for my brunch! I’m mostly proud of the great relationships I have been able to form along my journey as a caterer. What sets me apart from many others is my attention to detail work. I don’t just want the food to taste good but I also want it to look good!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would definitely manage my money better. In the beginning, I would profit almost nothing because I would not budget myself correctly. I would spend a huge bulk of money on food and product that I would profit nothing afterward. I would also take better advantage of the opportunities presented to me. At the beginning of my career, I was extremely passive in certain environments that had the ability to help me grow, I would definitely change that!
