Thanks for sharing your story with us Brooke. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in both Maryland and Virginia, so I proudly represent the DMV! As a senior in high school I worked at Up Against the Wall, an urban clothing store in our hometown mall. That part of my life still has such an impact on me because that’s where I really fell in love with fashion and diverse brands. I remember being 17 and Wale came in to shop one day; I was full blown star struck. My point being, I was the definition of a small town girl. Moving to East Atlanta in 2015 was the biggest change I had ever made in my life. I was far too comfortable where I was. I think everyone deserves to move away from home once and face that reality. Atlanta made me the woman that I am.
Has it been a smooth road?
I feel like nobody with big goals has an easy path. My first year living in Atlanta, my father passed away from cancer. He was a pretty big influence on not just me and my family, but our community. My dad was a business owner, a badass business owner. I knew anything I did after that point had to make an impact. I started in the beauty industry here at one of the top salons in the country doing hair and quickly realized hair was not my passion. I strongly believe you have to crave what you do, and believe in your craft because if you don’t, who will? I ended up finding my passion not just within my beauty career, but my life. I get to do so much more than just wake up to clock in and out. Not everyone can say that.

RAW is an organic spray tan studio and women’s boutique! Our tan formula is 100% our own, cruelty-free, and odorless. We are definitely setting the trend for modern day spray tanning in Georgia. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, which a lot of people really don’t understand or take seriously. Our daily goal is to educate women on safe sun and how to achieve healthy, beautiful skin! It’s honestly an amazing feeling to give someone the power of confidence in a quick 15-minute appointment. We have multiple locations and each studio has its own vibe and products that fit best with each neighborhood. At RAW Inman Park, we have a luxury boho-chic appeal, with a bit of an edge. We originally started in this neighborhood and are extremely excited to be back to our roots. Being on the East-side Beltline really helps connect us with the majority of the Atlanta neighborhoods and allows us to be highly accessible for our guests. Come check us out!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Honestly what is there not to love about Atlanta between the art, culture, food, and music? I think this is such an underrated city. There’s always something fun
and different to do here. If I’m not working, I’m usually cruising the beltline with my dog, hitting a concert at The Tabernacle, or in my sketchbook drawing up some crazy ideas. The only negative thing I think we can all agree on is the traffic sucks. Thankfully I work, live, play all in my neighborhood!
