Meet Bryanna Allen of The Contour House in Downtown Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryanna Allen.

Bryanna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I think its funny when people ask me how I got into makeup, I tell them the same old story even though it’s only half the truth of how I really started getting into makeup. I was bullied growing up, from how dark my skin was to how kinky my hair was. I was teased on my teeth and how skinny I was all throughout grade school. I used makeup as a way to disguise my insecurities. It was used as an outlet to cover the pain I felt from within. These insecurities almost took my life away but makeup saved it. After being a majorette dancer which wearing makeup was a requirement for each game (this is the story I always tell people) I decided to make it my hustle during my matriculation during college , especially being raised by a single father who was held responsible for the many loans taken out just so I can continue my education . After working in a shop under someone else’s brand, I made the decision to be a freelance MUA and to become more serious about my craft. I been on the go ever since.

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? Even the most successful people have failed. One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced during my journey was the lack of support. So many people doubted me and talked down on me. My biggest motivation still to this day is a young lady stating,” why are you promoting her page? She’s not even good, she’ll never make it far.” It has stuck with me for four years now and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without her words. Having to do everything on my own and believing in something so small but watching it grow into a brand so big is such an astonishing feeling. There is no obstacle I wouldn’t take it back just because it was too hard. I’m grateful. I’m humble.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Contour House story. Tell us more about the business.
I am known for being an Atlanta freelance makeup artist. The name of my company is called,” TheContourHouse”. What makes my brand so unique is the fact that I came into the beauty industry so young. I am self-taught and that’s what makes my craft so organic. Making my clients feel like their being pampered is the ultimate goal. Everything that you see relating to my brand I have done on my own. Other than my significant other investing in me and my parents guiding me, most of my branding, marketing, advertising, investing, and building has been my own responsibility. I did mostly everything on my own and have taught myself everything that I know all while being a full-time college student, a dancer, serving as Miss Collegiate 100 for the supporting chapter of 100 Black men on America, and a YouTuber. I had to learn how to sacrifice and balance because I believed in TheContourHouse that bad! Today, TheContourHouse is standing 12 days before its soft opening ! A combined studio with an Atlanta photographer known by JayVisualz built from scratch. A dream to come true!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see TheContourHouse going extremely far within the next 5-10 years! I see this business being successful and traveling the world to help others grow as business owners as well. I see myself being a celebrity makeup artist for artists, movies, television shows, and more! Putting my trust into God first as I continue to follow the law of attraction. Whatever is for me is already mine and it shall come into fruition. With that being said, I will make it a priority to study the newest and hottest trends in the industry. To stay hip to fashion as well as being diverse to cater to all styles and ethnicities.
