Meet Caleb Stanley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Stanley.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Caleb. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up on the south side of Atlanta, Newnan, GA. I always loved building things. As a child, I love to build with legos, as I grew up I was always in the woods building treehouses. I thought when I was thirteen I would be a construction worker when I grew up (haha.) Then I started to do creative content and loved watching things go from a concept and a dream to reality. When I was 17, God met me in a season when I was pretty confused and lonely about where life was headed… That’s really when my story started. I realized I didn’t just have to build graphics or build houses, I could build dreams. God Dreams. I met a good friend Austin Dennis and we started what is now known as The Alternative. Over the last few years, we have done dozens of events and reached thousands of young adults in the southeast with a message of hope, seeking to bring together both churches, denominations, and cultures under one roof. We recently released a book entitled, “The Alternative” that is available wherever book are sold.

Has it been a smooth road?
One of the hardest parts about pursuing your dream is understanding your dream is just that; it’s your dream. Not someone else. You can’t get let down when people quick or get distracted as you pursue your goal. Early on I thought people were turning against me when they would leave or move on. I would take it; personally, you know? As I have matured, I’ve realized that is a healthy part of life. Seasons come and go and you can’t get frustrated when people don’t catch the vision like you feel it in your heart… that’s why God gave you the dream. He’s entrusted you with it, not everyone around you. Don’t try to hoard people around you, empower them to chase what is in their heart, even if it costs you. Lead from that place, knowing it’s not about what others think or say, it’s about trusting your convictions and staying consistent when others are drifting.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Alternative was the first business we started. It’s all about uniting communities through large catalytic events and empowering young leaders to pursue their dreams and purpose, even if it means taking the paths of greatest resistance. We started this in 2012 because we saw so many organizations that were working hard, but not working together. We also saw many young adults in our communities that seemed to lack purpose, direction, and hope for their lives. As a non for profit 501(c)3 all of our work is relationship driven and purpose focused. It’s been a journey!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is a great city. Aside from one of the best airports in the nation, it’s is largely diverse and is with smaller suburbs surrounding downtown that are affordable and easy to get connected to.
