Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Ciez.
Caroline, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ever since I was a little girl, I always had a creative mind- be it fashion, art, photography, dance. I ended up pursuing art as a second study in college because I wanted to learn a deeper and wider array of craft and when I graduated and became a flight attendant, I began pursuing art and photography as a hobby to stimulate my creativity. A little more than two years later, I find myself painting with new mediums and continuing to photograph landscapes and cultures throughout my travels and display this work throughout Atlanta when given the opportunity.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far so good. However, in regards to making money with your craft, there is a really fine line between enjoying what you’re creating and feeling like it’s work. It’s all about finding that balance and working with the natural web and flow of what comes your way.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Caroline Ciez – what should we know?
I am a painter that primarily works with watercolor and acrylic focusing on abstract scenes and nude figures. I also am a travel photographer and aim to capture the raw undisturbed beauty of both the landscape and culture of a place. I think I’m most proud of my development as a painter. I only started painting about a year ago and have never really worked in that realm during art school, so everything I know has been self-taught and self-developed and to look back as see my progress is very exciting and satisfying. I definitely think my aesthetic is unique because I am so influenced by the colors and feelings I associate with the scenery I experience during my travels and it gives a different perspective to my paintings.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I definitely believe that meeting the right people connection wise and support wise has played a huge factor in my further development as a painter. When I began painting, I did it as a release and didn’t necessarily take myself seriously as an artist. I had some people from my past who were involved in the art community reach out and give me a platform to display my work and really gave me the encouragement to continue developing my skillset. To this day, I still receive so much support from those people and am incredibly lucky for that encounter.
