Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Manning.
Caroline, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hi my name is Caroline Manning. I am 22 years old. I am a full-time college student, but I also run a full-time business from my phone. I got started two years ago after I was working in an apartment complex and I was going to school full-time. I held positions in my sorority and I felt like I wasn’t breathing. No matter what I did, I couldn’t fit everything I needed to do into one day. I was approached by a recruiter of Victoria’s Secret PINK through my social media platform, Instagram (@caro_manning). I remember not knowing exactly what I was going to post and I followed all the other girls who participated in the program. I came across a girl that was a year older than me in college and in a sorority. We lived very similar lifestyles.
But I saw she was booking a flight to the UK for spring break and I wondered exactly how she was able to do that and why I wasn’t doing that. I asked her about the business and what she did and I found out it was a natural-based anti-aging vegan cruelty-free hair care line, at that point, it had extensions in my hair for seven years and I was constantly wanting better hair. I found out I had a 30-day moneyback guarantee and it was all through social selling and direct sales. I thought if this works out, awesome and if it doesn’t at least, I can have really good hair. I dove all in sharing this product and sharing this opportunity with anyone that would listen to me, I got told no a lot but I did not let that stop me. In my first 30 days in the business, I had promoted to the fourth level in my business. I brought my headphones everywhere with me and I jumped on team calls anytime I had a chance. I spent countless hours of working out of my small 4 x 4 apartment and I constantly helped everyone else hit their goals and achieve their dreams.
Over the last two years, I had sacrificed a lot of time to build this business but it has completely paid off. I never feel like I’m working and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and thankful I said yes to an unknown different opportunity. Since March 2018, I have been sent to the Bahamas, Nashville, Vegas, Cancun, Grand Cayman and another trip to Vegas in June and then the Dominican Republic in November of this year all for free. They also pay for my Cadillac for my hard work with their motor club incentive program. In November of 2019, I became the first Atlanta based and grown Director in the entire company and the youngest of the three directors in the state. I would never be able to be here without my amazing organization each and everyone of them has such a huge place in my heart and I am forever grateful for them and the mentors I have through this business. They are the serious backbone of the brand and the company as a whole and I am just so thankful for everyone’s hard work and dedication to the business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think selling is never a smooth road especially in the direct sales industry. I really think that there are highs and lows but I think it all depends on how you look at the lows that will get you to the highs quicker. Everything in this business is all about your mindset and your self-drive and determination. We often say that it is like a curvy road and you have to be willing to put in the work to get to the smoother path and you always have to be ready for something new to be thrown your way. I think this business is completely mindset and personal development and personal growth and it has completely changed my outlook on social selling and working remotely. A lot of people are anti- multi-level marketing and they think it could be a scam and you never get anywhere. People called me the shampoo girls and treated it as a joke. I knew with the quality of the product and the amazing company and its business model. I could do this and prove everyone wrong.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
The company I work for is Monat Global. We are naturally based on anti-aging vegan and cruelty-free hair care line and skincare brand. The home office is located in Miami, Florida. We manufacture and distribute all of our own products from that office. Everything is sent from the warehouse in Miami straight to the customer, so there’s no middleman in between. It is a mix of science and nature to create these products. We are leaping bunny certified. The company has been open for a little over five years now. We are in the direct selling industry. The company as a whole has over 1 million VIP customers and we just recently launched to Poland and Ireland, so we are in the middle of global expansion. You can become a part of this business if you reside in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Poland or Ireland.
I think the thing that I’m most proud of as a company is that we are so much more than a hair and skin brand. We have an entire section of our business dedicated to gratitude. Our president Stuart McMillan likes to say, “gratitude used to be what we did now. It’s who we are.” Absolutely every trip or event we ever do, we have a section to give back to something in the area. Regardless if it’s running a 5K for the big brothers and big sisters organization or must ministries. My personal favorite events I have done were during the month of December, I actually held events every Thursday night and people brought toys for Toys for Tots and we were able to fill an entire pick up truck of toys for Toys For Tots. I think one thing that sets us apart from others is our community is not like anything you have ever been a part of. It is a very positive environment, everyone in the entire company wants everyone to do well. During the coronavirus time we have been practicing #BeTheLight to spread positivity and encouragement.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was really energetic, fun and outgoing. I was a really positive kid had a really great upbringing. I was a cheerleader since I was eight years old and I cheered competitively throughout high school and I absolutely loved it. I think it really has shaped me for who I am today. It showed me how to be a leader and how to handle life situations. I grew up with my parents owning two companies and they worked extremely hard for the life that my sisters and I live. I have an older sister, Carly and a little sister, Caitlin. I learned from my dad, Michael, how important it truly is to work hard and dream really big. From my mom, Carrie, I learned just how important it is to work hard and be a good person and care about others. To do more for others than you do for yourself. I am very fortunate and very thankful for my family and my upbringing. I have the most supportive boyfriend, Brady, and it has been so much fun being able to take on this journey and go on these trips together. I think having supportive family makes the job even better and easier to share.
