Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Downey.
Catherine, please share your story with us.
As a Founder and CEO, I built my company around five core values: creativity, quality of products and services, exceptional customer service, innovation, and integrity. CATMEDIA has consistently applied these core values to meet the ever-changing needs of government and commercial clients in today’s fast-paced world. These principles are the foundation of our business and of our project management approach. CATVIDEO became CATMEDIA in 2011 to better serve our client’s needs and adapt to an ever-changing world of technologies.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road or a straight road. There have been lots of bumps, lots of curves, and a lot of struggles along the way. I think one of my biggest struggles was trying to balance being a full-time parent with building and running a company without shortchanging my four kids in the process. For many years I would hit the ground running at 6 a.m. and not stop to sit down until 11 p.m. when I would go to bed. It was difficult but I don’t regret any of it. I’ve had a great time being a mom while running a successful company as well.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with CATMEDIA – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
CAMTEDIA has two core competencies, but three divisions. We have a federal services division in which we deliver our training and creative services competencies in the federal space. We have an advertising agency that does creative work in the commercial space, and we have an entertainment division. We just wrapped on our first full length feature film, which we have submitted to Sundance.
We specialize in creative services, which includes marketing, branding, communication strategy, creative strategy, and production. We also specialize in training. In our training competency, we do instructional design, eLearning, and deliver leadership and management training across the globe.
As a company, I am most proud of the people that work here. They reflect the values that I think are important to success. They’re deeply committed to quality work and always putting the customer first. We all work together as colleges and I’m really proud of the culture we’ve built and how we take care of our clients.
I think the word innovation has been overused in the past few years, but CATMEDIA really is an innovative company. We have two patents pending that we developed to help our clients, we are extremely creative and use our creativity to problem solve.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that Atlanta has a great airport so I can get anywhere I need to go fairly easily for work. I love that Atlanta is a diverse community with all different kinds of voices. I think that diversity is a huge strength. I love that Atlanta has some major universities so we end up with some really talented young people entering into the job market. My least favorite part of Atlanta is of course, Atlanta traffic.
