Chandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a fine art portrait photographer in Charleston, SC, specializing in maternity, infants, and children. I am originally from Rochester, New York, where I received a degree in Visual Communications and Photography. When I relocated to Charleston, I attended Trident Technical College for Photography and Graphic Design and The Art Institute of Charleston for Photography. I fell in love with photography as a child and have since been committed to learning the craft and developing as an artist. I enjoy not just making photographs to capture memories but creating works of art that your family will cherish for years to come.
Has it been a smooth road?
I approached photography from the standpoint of an artist. When I began studying, I had no idea there were so much math and science involved. Being a great photographer is being an artist and scientist at the same time and so finding that balance was a struggle for me. I also have had many naysayers along the way, people who don’t believe art can be a success and those who wanted to challenge me to find a “real job”. But I’m so glad I stuck with my passion despite all that. When you find what you love, do it. Do it as often as you can. Become the best at it. Don’t give up. The naysayers will either get discouraged with your success and drift away, or they’ll hire you!

Reigning Moon is a fine art portrait photography company. I am proud to be able to present my clients with artwork for their home, something beyond the average photo of their children. I specialize in maternity, infants, and children. Clients don’t just come for pictures or a photo shoot, they come for an experience. I believe in the standard of excellence, from the first contact to the delivery of the product.
