Today we’d like to introduce you to Chasity Cofield.
Chasity, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I knew the moment I wanted to be an actress from the young age of five. I was obsessed with That’s So Raven so much that I would watch the show and then repeat the lines in the mirror. One day my mom came in very confused and said: “Why are you talking to yourself?”. I responded: “Mommy, I wanna be just like her when I grow up,” and the rest is history. Throughout my childhood years, I was a competitive cheerleader, but deep down inside, I still wanted to pursue acting. Finally, when I was 12, I stood up to my mom and told her I didn’t want to cheer anymore and she complied. From then I began my intensive training at AGI Entertainment in Marietta, GA. It was there where I signed with my agency: BMG Models and Talent. From walking for big-name designers to booking national commercials. I have been blessed, to say the least.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing up, I struggled with a speech impediment, stuttering. Given this, I never wanted to perform on stage or even read aloud in class. I was bullied constantly and this greatly impacted my self-esteem. However, this has made me grateful for the smaller things in life. Speaking a complete sentence without stopping, is something I never thought I would be able to do. There is one thing I do know for sure. Miracles aren’t birthed on smooth roads.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an Atlanta local actress and model. I primarily focus on Film and Television, but theatre resides in my heart, as well. Currently, I am a student at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) studying Performing Arts with a minor in Dramatic Writing. In the Fall of 2020, I will be performing in the SCAD mainstage production of Mr.Burns as Quincy. So, if you happen to be in the Savannah area, during October, come see the show!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important characteristic of my success is my passion. My passion is what creates my dream and my dream is what creates my vision. Without the love of the craft, there will be no longevity in my career. I am a firm believer in following your heart, regardless of what others have to say. We only get one shot at life, so why not make it count.
