Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Mitchell.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always wanted to start another business, but I wasn’t sure for what exactly. But being a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding in early 2019, it drove me crazy trying to find the right items that would make the experience worthwhile. No website or store had everything I was looking for in one spot. That’s when the idea came to me.
Why not help brides and their bridesmaids find fun trinkets and party accessories easily and in variety? That birthed Her Glam Squad. It took some time to get everything in order, but I was able to launch New Years 2020. I’m so proud of my project and excited to see where it takes me this year!
Has it been a smooth road?
Believe it or not, this was not my first option for a business. The original plan was to put all of my time and effort into my ex’s business venture. From going to training and workshops to helping the purchase of equipment, I did a lot to help him recognize his dream. Unfortunately, the relationship didn’t last and he wasn’t interested in returning anything, so I was in an interesting position. Couple that with the sudden passing of one of my favorite people, my grandfather in the same week. Stressful was an understatement, but I had to make a decision. Either wallow in my misery and sadness or put all of that exertion into my own venture. Besides, I wanted to prove to myself and everyone that I could succeed throughout my life on my own. As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I just happen to add some sweet tea to mine. It’s the Southern Girl in me!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Her Glam Squad story. Tell us more about the business.
Her Glam Squad is a one-stop shop for all things Bridal and Hen Party Accessories! We offer a number of items to flatter, dress, and accentuate both brides and bridesmaids alike from robes, tees, sashes, tiaras, swimsuits, and more! Everything comes in a variety of colors and sizes to fit any occasion or affair. Whether you want to capture a poolside shot with all of the girls in matching swimsuits or wear robes and slippers when preparing for the big day, we have it all! I’m most proud of the quality of the items we offer as well as the ability to make bridal party occasions as fun, memorable, and adventurous as possible. Instead of having to run to various shops, we have everything in one spot.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The wedding industry will forever blossom! Let’s be honest, we all love!!! If anything, the industry will gain more momentum as we venture into an era where everything is publicized and shared on social media. We all want to show off our squad, the activities we do together, and the love we have for each other. I look forward to being apart of the trend and helping everyone along the way!
As far as the site, I hope to have Her Glam Squad become a household name and the first thought when deciding on “where should we go for our hen party accessories?” Right now, everything is online, but I am working to build a physical location as well as beginning a pop-up shop tour with some of my fave collab partners. By the end of 10 years, I hope to have my own brand of bridal accessories readily available to all brides and squads.
