Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheron McCallum.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I danced with the thought of Motivational Speaker in the past, but let time pass and didn’t truly explore it until I realized I knew it was my calling. I come from a background in corporate as a Manager and Training Facilitator, so speaking in front of groups was never an issue for me, but having the courage to become a Motivational Speaker was what was holding me back.
After working part-time for six years at a small owned local business and being unhappy in my environment, I decided after a conversation with my kids, that I wanted to embark on my journey of being a Motivational Speaker. I needed to talk to others about why and how it’s important to make the biggest bet we can… by Bettin’ On Ourselves. After weeks of laying a foundation and having a great support team, I went about creating videos and sharing the Message of the Movement I created by utilizing the conversations and discussions I had over the years and months with people that felt my opinions and direction were valuable. I quit my job and jumped in full time to get myself into places for the Message to be delivered.
The Bettin’ On Myself Movement began one video and post at a time while building my portfolio of being able to speak in front of small and large groups about how when you Bet on Yourself you give yourself permission for Greatness with no apologies. With that message, there are no boundaries on what the Movement applies to so it is easy for the Message to be delivered with positive interaction everywhere it is delivered.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it also hasn’t been a bad one. Every time I get a not interested from a business or organization, it gives me the opportunity to perfect my craft and make a better pitch to the next. To fine tune the Message to that particular organization or business. Most organizations have prepared their speaking calendar for the year in advance, so I have used this time to create relationships with the smaller grassroots organizations to build my portfolio, gain more experience and most importantly have personal connections in those relationships when discussing the Movement.
As a new speaker to the area, proving how my skill set and Message is valuable is important, so growing relationships is a priority and that means it will take time and patience.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bettin’ On Myself story. Tell us more about it.
The Bettin’ On Myself Movement represents all of those that have the desire and fire to Bet On Themselves but sometimes just need to hear and see it. We are all in this together, encouraging each other, embracing each other and wanting nothing but the best for each other, because when you Bet On Yourself you are the very best version of YOU, the who and what YOU really are. The concept of the Movement is to Create, Include and Elevate those that have not taken a chance on themselves to have the Ability to Unleash ALL of their Potential with NO Apologies. All while continuously Embracing, Encouraging and Challenging those that have made their Bets, to become their own tangible Manifestations.
Bettin’ On Myself is a 360-degree approach as it is applicable in every facet of our lives, mentally, physically, emotionally and financially, so it can be utilized in all kinds of discussions, large and small, far and wide, it can never not be needed. What I bring to the movement is the ability to be transparent in my stories, opportunities, and delivery because it comes from experience and founded in reality. I tackle complex issues that require Self-Empowerment and present them in an engaging, realistic, and profound manner that can be simple and easy to implement.
I am proud of the movement’s ability to connect with people to help them realize that sometimes, we stand in our own way of establishing Greatness. That sometimes, all we need is to give ourselves the opportunity to take a chance on ourselves. Sometimes when we share the journey, it makes ones load lighter and easier to carry on their own.
As a Motivational Speaker, the Movement has allowed me to speak in my truest transparency and help others discover the love that they have forgotten about. The Love of Themselves. The dreams they may have abandoned and the hopelessness they may feel because they aren’t closer to what they hoped for themself. There is always Hope!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I like to always think of things that happen in my life as examples of when hard work meets opportunity instead of thinking its good luck. Or having opportunities to try again when it appears to be what can be viewed as bad luck. Working hard, encouraging others, never giving up and trying to be as positive and optimistic as I can has led to great connections which have turned into amazing relationships and opportunities to get the Movement seen and heard.
There have definitely been times when I wondered to myself, “who’s really listening or do people even believe the Movement” and then one person happens to inbox or text me their testimony of how they took a leap of faith and Bet On Themselves and can see the tide turning. It was then, I truly knew bad luck isn’t part of this journey.
Every day, I challenge myself to find the joy in what I am doing so that I have the ability to represent that when I speak to people, so it becomes worthwhile for others to continuously Bet On Themselves. Thats more that luck to me!
