Meet Chris Tran of Remax Millennium in N. Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Tran.

Chris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well I was never the best in school, most of the subjects never really interested me. All I knew was I wanted to make enough money to take care of my family and pay my bills. At first I tried selling pokemon cards, that made some decent money for 12 year old Chris but I knew I needed a more reliable income. I guess that’s what lead me to starting work early. I’m glad I did, because I feel like I’ve learned far more in the field than I ever would in the classroom. I jumped from job to job for a while trying to figure something out, never 100% sure what I really wanted to do with my life. It seemed like no matter what job I did though, from selling knives, pokemon & yugioh cards to cutting grass and promoting for parties, my focus always seemed to be on the people I was meeting and relationships I was forming. After time it became apparent to me, I was naturally focusing on the most important things. After another failed adventure in legal field of work, a college friend reached out to me about getting my real estate sales license. All of a sudden, it all clicked. I could make a career out of making friends and helping them through one of the most stressful periods of their life; buying and selling a house. After four years in the field, I have worked my way to associate broker and built an amazing team of agents fluent in spanish and vietnamese serving the entire state of Georgia, and I’m looking to expand the rooster if you’re looking for a career change.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Looking back now, I’d say things have been pretty smooth sailing. In the moment though, there were a whole lot of rough seas and choppy water. I’ve come to find that life works itself out, and “smooth sailing” is far more a state of mind than anything else. If you went back, I guarantee you you would not be able to convince my mom or teachers I’d be in a position where I’m meeting new people and presenting everyday. I was always the kid who asked to go to the bathroom when it was my turn to read out loud in class. Back then, I was just considered “shy.” Nowadays I know it for what it really is: social anxiety. It might seem odd, but even after all these years I still get a little anxious when meeting someone for the first time. Trust me, it is infinitely better than when I started. I credit real estate for helping me learn to live and cope with my insecurities. It might sound cliche, but I love my job because it helps me grow as a person and as a man. Heck, even my start in real estate was “rough waters.” I started after I was fired from my paralegal job…for the 3rd time. At the time, I thought I just entered a storm with no knowledge on how to weather it. Luckily, a college friend reached out to me about starting a career in real estate. It didn’t take long for me to realize I had finally found it, the career I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I’ve learned to not be afraid of storms, because sometimes you end up re-routing to where you were really supposed to end up anyways. Sometimes a rough wave comes and shakes things up, but that just makes the ship stronger and more storied.
