Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Burns.
Christopher, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started when I was six years old. Art and music always ran on both sides of my family. My dad is an artist “even though he won’t admit it” once drew a picture of a character from a movie I loved as a kid. That day, I was inspired to become an artist. I grew up watching a lot of Sonic The Hedgehog and reading the comics so most of my early art years were spent tracing and drawing Sonic. Once I got to the age of 10 is when I was first introduced to anime. The first anime I ever watched was Naruto. As soon as I saw it, I immediately started tracing and drawing the characters from the tv show. When I got to the age of 14, I had already been introduced to more shows like One Piece, DBZ, Fairytail, and more. At this time, I found out that there were comics in Japan that the anime shows were based on, they were called Manga. Once I found this out, I made a life-changing decision to pursue the long road of becoming a manga artist. From 14 to 17, I learned to speak Japanese and was studying and practicing how to make manga and trust me it was very hard. When I turned 17, I decided to write and draw my first manga, it was called Future of Love. I worked on this story until I was about 20 years old and at the time, I thought it was amazing. During this part of my life, I was going to college. In college, I had an amazing idea that was never done before and chapter designs in my head that had to be made into a story! So, I paused Future of love and put all my energy into my new story called Chikara Power of God. This story from writing it to drawing it took me three years to make and I recently just got it published! So, at the moment, I have been writing the next seven books and are continuing this journey as a manga artist.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
From age 6 to 22, I have encountered many different challenges. Most of these struggles were based on character design and anatomy. And I’m still very far away from my ultimate goal so I still have a lot to work on!
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
My personal business outside of manga, I am a graphic designer. I do logos, animations, motion graphics, film, photography, brand design, and so much more! I help people basically make their dreams come to life in any form of media!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For myself personally, I define success as being the best I can be in my craft. I am a very humble artist and others out there are doing what I do sooooo much better! But if I can do the best I can and make others happy with my stories and art and have a happy life because of, it then I am fine with what my life gives me!
