Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Haney.
Christopher, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since the age of 13, I’ve always have been passionate about food. I knew I didn’t want to become a chef, but I could remember watching Rachel Ray on television and saying to myself that I’m going to travel and explore different foods to share with my friends and family. Two years ago, my partner had encouraged me to start “dishwithchris”, my Instagram page and I said to myself OMG that’s a great idea. I needed an outlet to post all my food photos, and after going back and forth with the idea, I just decided to create dishwithchris.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe in every journey, we face obstacles, but to answer the question No; it hasn’t been a smooth road. I think one of the biggest challenges was getting people to support my passions. Anything can get discouraging when you don’t have the right support system. I know in the past I would give up on some of the things that made me happy because I allowed the negative opinions of others to get in my head. Now that I’m older, I’ve learned to do what makes me happy. If you go to sleep and wake up thinking about your passions, go after it. You never know who you are inspiring.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dishwithchris – what should we know?
Diswithchris is my food photography page that I created and manage on Instagram. I specialize in highlighting hidden gems whether they are restaurants, eatery or coffee shops in the greater Atlanta area. Often my best discoveries are cute little neighborhood coffee shops.I’m most proud of the connections that I have made with other food influencers and also the ability to share my experiences and expose my viewers to places that they may not have experienced. What sets me apart from others is that I just don’t post photos, l also create videos to give my viewers more realistic experience as if they were there. Sometimes you can find me vlogging as well.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think the essential quality that has helped me grow is just being my true authentic self.
