Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Roblesz.
Math N’ More was incorporated in June of 2020. The purpose is to provide scholars an alternative approach to traditional educational services, to provide families with resources to enhance their scholars experience in and out of school and to provide schools with the coaching, feedback and systems to provide all students an equitable education.
Focusing primarily on K-12 Math support, scholars receive individualized instruction based on their current work in school. Scholars’ families are then provided with feedback, tools, and techniques to help the scholar continuing to learn to build their understanding of math outside of tutoring sessions.
Mr. Roblesz is a tenured Math Enthusiast. Beginning his career in NYC in 2009, Mr. Roblesz has served all along the east coast. Starting at Achievement First Bushwick Middle School where he served as Math Interventionist, District of Columbia Public Schools, Miami Dade Public Schools, and most recently The SEED School of Miami where he served at the District Math Specialist, supporting math curriculum development across all three SEED campuses in Miami, District of Columbia and Maryland. Under his leadership SEED Miami’s 9th graders out performed the Miami Dade County Public Schools and the State of Florida on the Algebra 1 EOC (End-of-Course) exam test takers. Mr. Roblész has passion for mathematics and founded Math N’ More to help ensure scholars, schools, and stakeholders could receive the math supports needed. When not educating, Mr. Roblesz love to fly and travel, his favorite vacation spot is Grand Turks.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Unfortunately. It has not been easy at all. For starters COVID has not helped with the evolving of the program at all. It is difficult to market to parents and families virtually.
Also, the base of the service is providing scholars with math tutoring, unfortunately parents [the targeted group of parents; minority, low income, and underrepresented groups] don’t see the value in proactively supporting their scholar academically until it is to late and the scholar is failing significantly. A way I am going to support families in this when school opens back and virtually is by attending school PTA nights and showing the parents the results that work to get scholars on track when the school has done everything they can.
Please tell us about Math N’ More.
To provide scholars, families and schools with proper math, and educational services to ensure there is a clear pathway of success. Scholars will feel more confident in their abilities to achieve mathematically, instructors will be more confident in their instructional delivery and parents will feel more supported when meeting their scholar’s educational needs.
I am currently the CEO handling all business and operation (formation of the business, taxes, bills, supplies advertisements and website) as well as the only instructor/employee (tutoring all scholars, providing the coaching and feedback to schools and families). A nother major part of Math N’ More success is the relationships and the tutoring built outside of tutoring/instructional session. Mr. Roblesz rewards scholars for their hard work by spending time with them on a personal setting; in a true big brother fashion.
Lastly, The SEED School of Miami had amazing results under Mr. Roblesz (Math N’ More) Leadership.
During the 2017-2018 school year, only 27% of scholar passed their algebra graduation requirement, when Mr. Roblesz took over to support, nearly double the amount of scholars passed at 57% the first time and nearly all the scholars passed when they re-took the exam.
