Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Rand.
Hi Cindy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
That’s always a very interesting question to me because I like to refer to “my story” as more of “my journey” {laughing}… In brief, I took a leap of faith to start my first business in the late ’90s to basically recover some of what I considered lost time with my daughter. At the time, all I could recall from our lives as I built my career as an Accountant was constant work and school, day in and out with not real-time to make lasting memories except over the holidays. I wanted to have more control of my time and schedule and to enjoy the one life that I was given. Over the years, I have owned, operated and sold many businesses (flipping them is what it’s called today, ha!)
However, what I have rarely spoken of outside of my personal circles is what drives me to keep striving to be successful as an entrepreneur; and that is the desire I have for my family’s legacy, along with my desire to increase the funds available to my nonprofit, that helps homeless families with children by giving a percentage of my business profits to that cause.
You see, initially the younger version of me knew that there was something that I was destined to do, but at that time I did not know exactly what that was. Now the older, more seasoned me still strives for success (whatever that definition is) yet, with a different approach. That is why I direct so much of my time and attention to expanding the services offered at Wellness by Envision Holistic Body Boutique. In this second half of my life as an empty-nester, I now strive to empower as many women as I can to love self beyond the physical, thrive and not become complacent with just surviving day by day. I realized that all the twist, turns, and transitions I endured as a young mother, young bride in an abusive relationship, in my career, in my businesses were not just for me to get through it and keep silent about how I got through it; but for me to help other women understand their current worth is far greater than any undesirable circumstance. I seem to have a common denominator in life, business, and that I feel is to help someone in some capacity to do more – be more, expect more out of life. I feel that I’m at my best when I’m serving. I continue to seize new opportunities because in leading by example, I refuse to become complacent.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! There are not enough minutes in the day to discuss the challenges, struggles, setbacks, missed marks, disappointments and so on that have reared their ugly heads along the way. Nonetheless, as I’ve told many, many budding leaders at this point: expect it, embrace it, and grow from it. Because if you go through some ugly stuff and not learn a thing from it, you have wasted that valuable time, air and space in your life. Needless to say, I’ve been stretched, pulled, churned and done a whole lot of growing!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My clients call me the “Busy Woman’s Cheerleader!” I am the visionary behind Wellness By Envision Holistic Body Boutiques and the brains behind a few more businesses, haha… I am currently enjoying my roles as a Certified Holistic Wellness Coach and Leadership Development Trainer. In addition to the targeted physical services provided at Wellness, we encourage our clients not to be so hard on themselves from the mirror but to be consistent making subtle lifestyle changes that will enable them to be well in mind, body and spirit.
This type of industry’s success is built on the client trusting you with things they are very self-conscience about, and they must be comfortable in doing so. In this line of work, you begin to build relationships with your clients, they share what’s on their minds and you reciprocate by sharing what’s on your mind in response to their concerns. I think that’s just one of the things that set us apart from others, we listen, “intently”, to our client’s concerns to then personalize their services and offer more than they expect. I have been privileged to meet and have some phenomenal individuals patronize our business. In listening to them and hearing of their concerns, I was recently compelled to write Volume 1 of my new book series: “The Busy Woman’s Guide to Holistic Health and Wellness: How to fuel your work-life balance without losing your power, passion and purpose.” In the only way I knew how to express my thoughts towards the subject, I decided to share pieces of my life’s journey, my faith, journaling prompts and the steps I took to take control of my personal wellness journey while overcoming obstacles along my path. I figured if the reader learned just one thing from my book, it would have been well worth the time it took me to write it, haha!
My book is currently available in paperback, audio, e-book and is in the process of being available to retailers. It can be found now though, online on Barnes & Noble or Amazon. If a person prefers to listen on audiobook, they could get a discount on Audible by using this short link: https://www.loom.ly/31JokM8
Much to my surprise, the expansion services that include elements from my “Busy Woman’s Network” have been well received and is quickly gaining traction.
The mission of the “Busy Woman’s Network” is “To create a diverse community of like-minded busy women to thrive in mind, body, spirit and finances.”
This information of course, can be found on my site: www.TheCindyRand.com. However, let me expound a bit on our core services:
1) Woman’s Empowerment Coaching:
I have been able to educate and empower women’s groups, tribes and villages in the areas of leadership, personal and professional development through in person-workshops, webinars and actionable steps to meet their goals. Areas that we all must seek to enhance regularly as a part of growth, an investment in ourselves that will spill over into our daily endeavors, businesses and life goals.
2) Leadership Development and Training (Business Coaching):
This service has become very popular because it’s done virtually, in a group setting for only $19.99 per month! Ladies that are aspiring, inquisitive and current entrepreneurs learn from themed subjects ranging from how to brand, rebrand or build a business; create multiple streams of income; or even how to forgive yourself for this or that and so on. I also have a host of clients male and female that have one-on-one sessions at a more accelerated pace due to their package options. These services are quickly becoming very dear to my heart because I now have women from across the globe who are receiving coaching from me to thrive personally and professionally!
3) The Busy Woman’s Networking Group:
This is a very new extension for us in the Atlanta region for in-person networking! We recently had our 1st meeting, and I am very hopeful that this group will grow to be as successful in achieving its purpose as the other networking groups I have been so privileged to lead in the past. With monthly Meetups on the second Tuesday, this group is slated to help busy women create those connections, learn, grow and network with like-minded individuals that desire to thrive in their respective fields.
So, as you can see a lot has evolved within our company and I am super excited about the benefits – and positive impact this will have on the women that connect with me!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Wow, there is no singular answer to that. Let me explain… I have learned that everything starts with a seed. Then that seed must be watered, nurtured and sometimes even pruned to grow and reach its full potential. I’ve learned that positive mindsets and perspectives are the building blocks to success. I have learned that being grateful and making the best use of each day is a priceless virtue. I’ve learned that in all my pursuits of business “survival” that I must take time on a regular basis to quiet my mind and take care of my personal needs. To nurture and refuel myself, be it through self-care or quiet time so that I can have the physical and mental stamina to continue towards my goals. I’ve learned that it’s okay to accept my flaws, weaknesses and to be imperfectly perfect, as long as I don’t use those things as a crutch or an excuse but to use them as a reason to stay focused and enhance my strengths. Sidebar: And I’m still learning important lessons along my journey…
