Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Tarrant.
Cindy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My dad was a farmer, and my mother loved filling the yard with flowers. Then she brought them into the house. Those were meaningful memories for me. As I got older, I really wanted to grow and found a niche growing flowers for farmer’s markets. When the Krog Street Market came in, I was lucky enough to be a part of it. My goal is to persuade Atlanta that local flowers are heartbreakingly beautiful and should be a major part of Atlanta, whether that’s in restaurants, wedding ceremonies, or gift deliveries.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We had difficulty getting enough land to grow, so we had to move out of Atlanta. Now we have a farm and all the acreage we can plant.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with French Market Flowers – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our flower shop not only delivers flowers to customers and restaurants throughout the city, but we also do weddings and events. During the growing season, we are able to offer clients locally grown flowers and plants that are grown organically. We use flowers from our farm and other local farmers such as Rag and Frass Farm, Flower Gardens, and Three Porch Farm. All of our farmers value the earth and use drip irrigation, cover crops, and organic inputs.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We hope to wholesale our farm bouquets to grocery store chains.
