Meet Courtney Teague

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Teague.

Hi Courtney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At this moment, I am really excited about my life. I was born and raised by my mom and grandma in Montgomery, Alabama. My dad was incarcerated and was released because he was terminally ill with cancer. So at the age of seven, I was left fatherless. He didn’t leave a trust fund, but he left behind his wisdom that I constantly refer to as I work to be a better version of myself daily. As stats may have suggested, I should have been a replication of my environment, a high-school dropout, and receiving government assistance. However, that was not the life my heart desired as I chose to design a life dedicated to breaking generational curses. I believe that there is always something greater for me to experience in life. I know that my gift and purpose are not for me but for the weak and others who are not able to advocate for themselves at the moment.

As I reflect on my current state professionally, it was not an easy road. For I am well aware that anything in life worth having is worth the investment of sacrifice. I experienced verbal abuse, frequent rejection, saying goodbye to seasonal friends, and throwing up the peace sign to the toxic relationships. I overcame the challenges through reclaiming my “why” and time; engaging in ongoing learning; investing in coaching and therapy; saying “no” and scheduling self-isolation so I can recenter. The lessons I learned along the way included doing the opposite of what common people do. I learned that no one is going to save me (beyond God) and it is my job to do it myself, for I have all the resources (i.e., therapists, coaches, etc.) I need. I want the world to know that you don’t have to do life alone, you have a coach in me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Life has not been easy but it has been a blessing. I have been told “no” more times than I can count. Whether it was being told “no” about a job, business deals, or relationships I learned to embrace it. I am a firm believer that in God’s timing everything that is for me will work out.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My expertise is in supporting individuals/organizations as they learn and transition through change. With nearly two decades of teaching, executive coaching, speaking, and most essential, real-life hands-on experience, my view is realistic and different. I am grateful and willing to share with anyone who listens to the importance of living the life you deserve professionally and/or personally.

I am often referred to as “The Uncommon Coach” for my ability to bring out the best in people. I am known for my practical and savvy style and real-life stories that I leverage to connect with my audience at a personal and intimate level. I create dynamic experiences in which individuals/organizations accelerate the growth of their ventures, themselves, and the implementation of change.

What matters most to you? Why?
People’s well-being matters to me. I believe that we are placed in this universe to support each other. If one person is down, we are co-responsible for uplifting that person and supporting them to be the best version of themselves.
